Bicycles are a mode of transport for Sims in The Sims 3, The Sims 4: Discover University and The Sims 4: Eco Lifestyle. A bicycle is also present as a pre-order bonus in The Sims 4: Cottage Living.

The Sims 3[edit | edit source]

In The Sims 3, Sims can buy a bike to travel around the neighborhood.

To use a bike, one must buy a bike stand too. The bike goes into the Sim's inventory when they take it into town, and returns to the Sim's bike stand when they return home. Children will ride bikes to any community lot (unless they are going to school, in which case they will take the school bus) if they're going alone, even if they own no bike.

Bicycles are also one of the few vehicles Sims can use in Shang Simla. These, however, seem to be road bikes. It can be identified by the drops handle bars.

In The Sims 3: Ambitions, Sims who have the eco-friendly trait will receive a positive moodlet when riding a bike.

Bikes introduced in The Sims 3: Into the Future are considered as bikes despite them being called as scooters in the game.

The Sims 4[edit | edit source]

Bicycles in The Sims 4 are also used as transportation, but unlike The Sims 3, a bike rack isn't necessary to house them. Although they take up a 2x2 tile area of space when placed, Sims riding them can go through a quarter-tile area just like they can while walking. The Eco Lifestyle bicycle will not show up in build mode unless cheats are used; it can only be found while dumpster diving.

There are 3 interactions relating to riding the bike, and picking either "Ride Bike", "Ride Bike Around", or "Travel..." automatically places a random helmet on the Sim's head that is using it. The first two interactions let Sims ride around the neighborhood (automatically or user directed), while the last allows them to travel to other lots. Sims can also name their bikes, favorite them, or place them in their inventory. Riding a bicycle builds the fitness skill.
