In The Sims 3, Sims can buy a bike to travel around the neighbourhood.

To use a bike, one must buy a bike stand too. The bike goes into the Sim's inventory when they take it into town, and returns to the Sim's bike stand when they return home. Children will ride bikes to any community lot (unless they are going to school, in which case they will take the school bus) if they're going alone, even if they own no bike.

Bicycles are also one of the few vehicles Sims can use in Shang Simla. These, however, seem to be road bikes. It can be identified by the drops handle bars.

Bikes have a speed rating of 2.

In The Sims 3: Ambitions, Sims who have the eco-friendly trait will receive a positive moodlet when riding a bike.

The Sims 3: Into the Future introduced futuristic new bikes for both children and adults.

Bicycles in The Sims 4 are also used as transportation, but unlike the Sims 3, you do not need a bike rack to house them and they can be ridden on lots in addition to riding them to lots. There are 3 interactions relating to riding the bike, and picking either "Ride Bike", "Ride Bike Around", or "Travel..." automatically places a random helmet on the Sim's head that is using it. The first two interactions let you ride around in the area (automatically or user directed, while the last involves a loading screen. Sims can also name their bikes, favorite them, or place them in their inventory.
