The Sims 2: Bon Voyage and The Sims 3: World Adventures are both based on the concept of traveling, but there are several differences.

- Digging: Anywhere in Bon Voyage, at Dig Site only in World Adventures

- Multiple hotels of various cost and standard; World Adventures merely contains one no-cost base camp.
- Bellhop and housekeeper NPCs for hotel room services
- Unsavory Charlatan
- Local dance styles (Hula, Slap dance)
- Voodoo doll and Witch Doctor NPC
- Fire dance and fire dancer NPC
