Computer
|
Computers are objects in The Sims, The Sims 2 and The Sims 3.
Starting with The Sims, a computer could be used for:
- Finding a job (The Sims, The Sims 2, and The Sims 3)
- In The Sims, the computer will have three job openings.
- In The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, the computer lists five job openings and day and jobs found on the computer are often better than the ones in the newspaper.
- Playing games
Computers were made more versatile in The Sims 2. They could be used for:
- Moving house
- Chatting online and emailing
- Surfing the internet
- Writing a novel
- Reviewing scholarships for university (The Sims 2: University only)
- Starting a business (The Sims 2: Open for Business only)
- Hiring employees for your business (The Sims 2: Open for Business only)
- Blogging about Hobbies (The Sims 2: FreeTime only)
In The Sims 3, computers were once again upgraded. As well as having all the previous features, save for the ones from the University, Open for Business, and FreeTime expansions, computers could be used for:
- Playing Chess. As well as having newer, flashier games, all but the cheapest computer model includes a Logic-building chess program.
- Solving the Unsolvable. Genius Sims can attempt to solve complex scientific problems, which will earn them money if successful. Attempts to solve problems can't be interrupted; if the Sim stops the attempt before it's completed, it will automatically fail and they'll have to start over.
- Hacking. Sims who are Computer Whizes can earn money this way at night.
- Overclocking. Sims who are Computer Whizes can attempt this unique upgrade.
- Trolling Forums. Inappropriate, Mean-Spirited, or just downright Evil Sims can attempt to get big lulz from touchy netizens.
