The Caliente family is a family in my version of Pleasantview. It consists of the Caliente sisters, Nina and Dina.

Both sisters are, unbeknownst to each other, involved in a romantic relationship with none other than Don Lothario, the town Casanova.

Prologue[edit | edit source]

Dina Caliente's digging for gold, and she wants to lay a claim on Mortimer! Don't wait for him to make the big move! Be aggressive!

Part 1. Wedding bells from afar[edit | edit source]

The water sloshed, bubbled, and churned, washing over skin and bikini with a warm, graceful, and soothing touch. The sun shone overhead, bringing warmth and comfort to the parts inaccessible by the water. The gentle hum of the machinery below added to the graceful ambiance as it filtered and recycled the water in the tub. A light breeze, easily captured by the tub's rooftop location, kept the tub's occupants from becoming too hot and the June air from becoming too unbearable.

A sudden sloshing and moving of the water shattered the entire scene.

Nina Caliente opened her eyes. Her sister, Dina, was climbing out of the hot tub and onto the deck, shaking the water off her skin as she went.

Wait, what? Normally, it was Nina who exited the hot tub first, after she had felt relaxed enough and before she turned into a prune inside the tub. Dina leaving the tub of luxury first was a, well, first, in the Caliente's history.

"What's up with you, Dina? Aren't you the one who likes to stay in the hot tub for hours on end?"

Dina got changed in a jiffy. "No time for laziness, at least not today!" Her voice was high-pitched and excited. "Old Morty's coming over today, and I just can't wait to propose to him! I'll be so rich! I'll be so famous!" She danced around the deck wildly, as if there were a live wire running through her.

Nina covered her ears. "Uh, no. Don't go on talking about that old, white-haired bumblebee!"

Dina peered over the railings. She gasped with delight. "There he is! He's coming down the sidewalk and he'll be at our door any moment!" She raced down the stairs with such speed that she nearly tripped. "He's mine! Just you wait, Nina! Just you wait!"

Nina sighed and got out of the tub. She looked over the railings. Mortimer was taking his time, shuffling down the sidewalk at a snail's pace. He was still a sizable distance away from the house when the front door opened. Dina flew out of the house and rocketed down the sidewalk towards her new "husband".

Mortimer barely had time to take a breath when Dina practically threw herself onto him. One moment, Mortimer was casually walking down the path, the next moment he could hardly keep his balance as Dina's lips squeezed into his with such force that his lungs were almost crushed.

When Dina finally let go, Mortimer had inkblots on the edges of his vision. When he regained his breath, he managed to say: "Oh my, you're so youthful and lively!"

Nina watched as the two headed back towards the house. Dina jumped around excitedly and frequently kissed Mortimer as he walked. She's excited to be marrying Mr. Moneybags, Nina thought.

"Like, after the whole incident with Don Lothario, I thought I'd step in and fill that empty space up. I mean, that Don Lothario is such a jerk..."

"And I knew the terrible truth too late!" Mortimer turned towards Don's condo and shouted "You slimy pigface!" before entering the house.

"Yeah, so after the whole debacle with Don, I just threw a pie at his face for being such a prick. Like, he didn't hurt Cassy, did he?"

"None that I'm aware of!"

Nina could hear them coming up the steps towards the roof. Oh great, Nina thought. What's Dina planning to do?

"Isn't it such a beautiful day, Dina?" Mortimer asked. "Oh, it's so gorgeous! It's the perfect day to add to my insect collection!" He reached into his pocket and pulled out a jar of butterflies. "I caught these this morning! They're as golden as the sun above our heads!"

Dina recoiled for a moment, but regained her confidence within seconds. "Um... yeah, I'm sure your insects will love a day like this!"

Well, if there's one thing that *might* stop Dina dead in her tracks is her hatred of small, crawling things, Nina thought. Mortimer loved insects as much as he loved his career, and when he wasn't inventing stuff, he was enjoying himself with nature.

Dina kept a safe distance from the jar of butterflies, as if they emitted some sort of force field. Nina chuckled to herself. All old man Morty has to do is whip out a jar of arthropods and the wedding is off.

"You don't mind if I let these butterflies out, do you?" Mortimer asked. "I think they've been in here long enough, and it's time they went out to gather some nectar."

"Oh yes, pul-ease!" Dina was relieved, but tried unsuccessfully to hide it. "I mean, yeah, let's not leave them in there to die."

Mortimer removed the lid and watched as the butterflies flew out. They danced gracefully in the air over his head before flying off into the distance.

"Ah, freedom. That is something the earth has mastered. Why can't we follow in her footsteps?"

Dina was busy trying to build herself up. Today was the day to score big. If she can get the ball out of the ballpark, Mortimer's immense fortune would be hers!

Nina knew everything. She knew what her sister was hankering after, and honestly, even she liked the idea of the money. Mortimer was the oldest surviving member of the Goth family, and the Goths have had a long history of being rich and successful. All Dina had to do was win Mortimer's heart, and the Calientes would have access to the financial assets the Goth family had. But Nina had concerns over the whole thing. While Nina craved money, she also knew that the Goths were indeed the most famous family in SimNation. Four months ago, the Goths were all over the news about the disappearance of Bella Goth, Mortimer's young, lavishly dressed wife. Nobody knew where she was or who took her, although aliens were the suspected culprit. Everyone all knew that Mortimer and Bella were very close to each other, and Dina's marriage to Mortimer would stir up a wild media frenzy. If Bella Goth was still alive, news would soon get to her...

And even if Mortimer rejected Dina's proposal, that would still land the Calientes into deep trouble. News reporters would be knocking on their doors and windows, and the phone would be ringing off the hook. The whole world would know that the Calientes had tried to end Mortimer's commitment to Bella. It would be shameful.

And there especially won't be any money!

"Nina...? Are you okay?"

Nina looked up. Dina and Mortimer were standing next to her. "You look pale, Nina. Do you need a glass of water?"

"Uhm... no thanks, I'm..." were the last words Nina could remember before the deck met her head.
