The Crystal family is a family that was introduced in The Sims 2 and returned for The Sims 3. Different members of the family where added to certain expansion packs. Also, a younger version of the family was added for The Sims 2: Apartment Life set 31 years before their timeline.
The current known members of the Crystal family are Ruby Crystal, Carlton Crystal, Diamond Crystal, Vincent Crystal, Tanya Crystal, Sonya Crystal, Darren Crystal, Jenna Crystal, Amanda Crystal, Thomas Crystal, Rachel Crystal, Scott Crystal, Adam Crystal, and Elizabeth Crystal.
Ruby and Carlton Crystal founded Crystal-Reed Valley (formerly Crystal Valley) and thus spent most of their life there along with most later generations of the family. The family are the richest and oldest family in town as they are the key founders. In The Sims 2 a small section of the Valley is bought by the Reed family. The Reed family eventually become co-founders of the town after Jenna gets married to Thomas Crystal (née Reed) leading to the change in the towns name.
A younger version of the family was introduced in this game. Set 31 years before the events of The Sims 2 it focused on the Adult versions of Diamond and Vincent and their two children Tanya and Sonya who are both at the Child life stage. They all live at 130 Crystal Road that has a different appearance and only contains two floors. They live in Crystal Valley which is owned by Diamond & Vincent. Crystal Valley appears very differently at this point in time, it is a lot smaller and contains only one inhabitable island. All the streets have the same name with some streets not appearing at all. There is a train track that runs through the hills. The Reed family do not appear as they only moved to Crystal Valley a short time before the events of The Sims 2.
The Sims 2 marks the first ever appearance of the Crystal Family. Introducing Tanya Crystal and her husband Darren, along with their children Jenna and Amanda. Also Tanya's sister Sonya whom she doesn't have a strong relationship with. Tanya, her husband and their children all live at 128 Crystal Road. The family is rich and own the town after it got passed down from Tanya's parents Diamond and Vincent who are already deceased. The family is at a feud with the Reed family who bought a small section of the town from Diamond and Vincent just before they died. It is unknown why the families do not get along but it could possibly be because the Reed family wants to run the Crystal family out of town and own it all for themselves. Also, Jenna is dating Thomas Reed and their relationship does not go down well with their families. Always being rebellious taking after her Aunt Sonya, Jenna continues to date Thomas and go against Crystal rules.
The town was founded by Diamonds Mother Ruby many years ago and was built up by Ruby's husband Carlton.
The Crystal Family has its own grave yard directly across the street from their home. The graveyard contains Ruby Crystal, Carlton Crystal, Vincent's parents Elizabeth Sharewood and Chester Sharewood, as well as Darren's parents Jess and Nathan Wood. The ashes of Diamond and Vincent reside inside Crystal Manor.
The oldest know member of the family is Chester Sharewood who was born 154 years ago (as of The Sims 3).
In The Sims 3: Seasons when Jenna returns she is younger than Amanda despite being her older sister. This can be explained however as Jenna was abducted by aliens in between the 54-year gap between The Sims 2 and The Sims 3.
