Jade's parents just got married when Yvonne was expecting Jade, she quickly consulted a doctor and he determined the baby's gender, the results were clear it was a girl. Yvonne was delighted as she always wanted a baby girl but Kai acted as if Yvonne wasn't there. Yvonne bought pink cribs, toys and balloons for the new baby and very soon Kai actually ignored Yvonne completely.
When Jade was born her mum threw a party to welcome the new arrival, Jade's mum spoilt her rotten and even quit her job to find time with her new bundle of joy. Kai never ever looked after Jade and started arguing a little with Yvonne.
When Jade became a toddler, her mum fell pregnant again, but she still spent almost all her time with little Jade. Kai was almost certain that it would be a boy and started listening, feeling and talking to her belly. Very soon, the new baby was born and it was a boy. He started to get attention and it made Jade jealous.
Jade was very popular in school and was best friends with a boy called James. Jade loved her little brother and sometimes looked after him. Kai hated Yvonne and Jade, and he started to argue with Yvonne and abuse Jade. One day when Jade came home from school, she saw a horrific sight, her father was fighting with her mother and the next thing was he divorced her! Kai grabbed Kris and shoved Jade out of the way and ran out the front door, leaving Jade and Yvonne alone.
Jade was now starting to understand why her father ran away. It was heartbreaking for her to find out each day she came home from school, her dad wasn't on the couch making out with her mum like he was in her early childhood. She really missed Kris and wished to see him one more time. One day she found out prom was on the way and bought a very expensive dress, hoping that James, her new crush would ask her to it. One day, the day before the prom, Jade was sitting crying at the sofa because James still hadn't asked her to the prom. Soon she heard a knock on the door, it was James. He gave her flowers and said to her, "Jade, I love you. Can you please come to the prom wth me?" These words filled Jade's heart with love, "Yes," was her reply and she hugged him as tight as she could. The next day was prom day. Jade ran home from school and got dressed and James whisked her off to the school in a limo. The two danced the night away, managing a first kiss. And they were anointed prom king and queen.
