Winona Space was the wife of Marcus Space, the sister of Clarke Space and the mother of Theodore Space and the late Emily Space. She was a kind woman who was killed by Selena Loste in her second cull.
Her mother, Minerva, had a relationship with the widower Mickey Space. The relationship only lasted for a year or so when Minerva decided to move whist pregnant with Winona to the dangerous Strangetown run by the Grunt Family.
Winona was a contented baby. Their mother had her hands full with her and her brother but overall their babyhood was pleasant. They were reasonably poor and they way they earnt money was by Minerva's paintings.
Again, Winona's babyhood was pleasant but not particularly memorable. She was only taught to talk and nothing as her mother simply didn't have the time. She grew very close to her older brother in that time and they became best friends.
During her childhood, Winona was a happy child with many friends. Her best friend was a boya few years above called Marcus, they both secretly had crushes on each other but both were too shy and young to do anything. She became very nervous when Marcus went in for the cull but he returned a month later, shaken but alive. Around this time, she and her classmates were forced to start physical training for their first cull to supposedly give them all a fair chance although it was quite rigged anyway.
Winona and Marcus began pursuing a relationship when they were teenagers and she was very happy with him. She was an intelligent girl, who was particularly gifted at Mathematics. Although her life was seemingly carefree, she was worried as her first cull was coming up. She tried not to focus on this too much and spent most of her time hanging out with her boyfriend and brother. She and her brother did a few bits of training outside of school but neither of them had any hopes of winning it and simply wanted to survive.
Winona's first cull was surprisingly uneventful. She killed nobody and spent most of her time in a more isolated part of the forest with her brother. At times she often forgot that she was actually in a dangerous competition with many risks to her life.
