Recently I've made some modifications to The Sims Wiki:Featured article, which is largely to simplify the feature and to provide an actual page for Featured Articles themselves. Prior to this change, all 'Featured' pages redirected to The Sims Wiki:Featured Content, which is a catch-all page that briefly describes each featured content item. My main motivation for the change I implemented was to make it so that the voting and nominations of Featured Articles actually takes place at The Sims Wiki:Featured article, not some sub-page.

To make a long story short, I think we should implement this change across all Featured Content. Specifically, I'm discussing creating dedicated pages for each item of featured content (e.g. 'The Sims Wiki:Featured Media' or 'The Sims Wiki:Featured Fan Fiction') and removing the auto-redirects to the Featured Content page. The Featured Content page would be used as a landing spot to all the specific Features themselves, and provide the same general information about the features that it already does. The second part of this proposal is to merge the current voting pages (e.g. The Sims Wiki:Featured Media/Voting, The Sims Wiki:Featured Fanon/Voting) onto the main feature pages, as has already been done with Featured Articles.

The implementation of this plan would not affect:

  • Battles - Battles, by its very nature, is structured differently than other Featured Content, and as such it would be unwise to try and make it fit within the framework being laid out here.
  • Featured Polls - Polls are currently not voted on or nominated prior to being featured, and there is currently no plan to implement that system (though this could be discussed).
  • Featured Editor - Featured Editor already follows this system. No changes would be needed.
  • Featured Author - Featured Author already follows this system. No changes would be needed.
