Okay so as you all know, we deliver a weekly news blog on a Thursday which is basically the news from The Sims series and the wiki. I can say we're at a "so far, so good" status with this. I had started a draft page for the News Team, which by extension covers the news blogs and then I thought maybe we could expand on a few things to make the News Team more noteworthy.

So here's a couple of ideas I have that we could consider for the expansion of the News Team:

  • Recruiting more users, potentially some non-admins, to be a part of it. This can help the fact that there's only four users...bureaucrats as current members with uneven weekly rotations (as in anybody doing it one week, then the same user next week, then someone else and so on). I'm not sure how the recruitment/application process should go. It doesn't need to be as formal as every other user group application but I don't have any ideas that come to mind.
  • Formally expand this to cover The Sims news too. It might be worth implementing a new category to supplement the current categories. Something subtle like "Category:Blog posts/News" would be adequate.

This is all I have for now. If anybody else has anything they'd like to suggest then by all means don't hesitate to do so.

What's everybody's stance on this? Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 12:16, March 17, 2013 (UTC)

Everything looks good to go, though for the recruitment part, that shouldn't be something seriously considered. When a user requests to be apart of the News Team, they should be accepted (with at least minimal writing and reading capability). Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 20:29, March 17, 2013 (UTC)

Only reason I'm really giving that a lot of consideration is mostly to prevent an excess of users applying. Obviously someone has to have a fluent-most-of-the-time approach to the English language and be willing to do a bit of research to be considered. I say we just leave the decision up to the bureaucrats, much in the manner of a rollback request albeit less formal and scrutinising. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 20:34, March 17, 2013 (UTC)
I think this would be a good idea. I don't know how all the technical stuff would work, but I reckon this would be a great idea for information about the wiki and the games. ~ Waikikamukow (Anyone wanna chat?) 05:35, March 25, 2013 (UTC)
