Forum:Fanon Battles
As was discussed in my blog post, it seems like there are some interest in having the currently informal (and hence relatively unseen) Fanon Battles to the The Sims Wiki namespace, making a huge visibility boost from the current system in which nominations are held in my user page while actual battles are held in Starmoonie's page. This is meant to be a confirmation page, as to notify users and hopefully admins/bureaucrats before I go on and make a bold move.
Although we haven't seen opposition, attention was lukewarm at best, something that is a huge drop from the initial conceptualization of the Fanon Battles (Starmoonie's blog posts received hefty attention, and first Fanon Battle actually had a good participation rate), which may suggest a dying attention base, or mere invisibility. Fanon Battle Fizzing out[edit source]
Fanon Battle was a project eagerly launched by the spark provided by yours truly made into an unofficial project by a fellow admin, given the success of the first unofficial battle pitting 3 heavyweights of insane women in the fanon namespace. However, despite the promising start, the Fanon Battle started to fizzle out with no new nomination or votes since March 13th, and voting grew ever so less common since, although the Ezekiel Gretchyn vs Isis Stone actually had a good turnover, having 7 votes, 1 less than the first (albeit unofficial) battle. With the turnover for this battle quite lackluster, as well as the dearth of new nomination and votes, some action must be taken to preserve the new element, or scrap it outright. Why I think fanon battles are dying out, and what I suggest[edit source]
I think the reason why fanon battles are fizzling out is because it's only fanon sims. I am only interested in player-made sims if they have a good story, aka Fan Fiction, behind them. Things like the Reaper family is different, since a lot of storyline goes into those guys. But the rest aren't very interesting, in my opinion. Maybe it should be Fan Fiction battles instead, like the one I just proposed of PlumbBobs & Predjudice versus The Good Ones. Me!-Bwahaha! 00:33, May 20, 2013 (UTC)Hurshbr
Well, the current segment doesn't really cover fan fictions. However, we could have Fan Fiction battles (combine both Fanon Sims and Fan Fiction), see how that goes.
