It might be just me and my head, but I'm almost sure that I am unwanted in the wiki chat.

The first hint I had was when I joined; nobody would be bothered to greet me, except for Blue12Porcupine and sometimes K6ka. Whenever somebody else joined, whether it's Colin, Spell-caster, or a newcomer, he/she'd be greeted by everyone.

The second hint I had was when I spoke. If the chat was silent and I tried to bring up something(more often than not a link to something), nobody would reply. Sometimes, even when I add to a discussion, I'm ignored.

It might seem like I'm just an attention whore who's mad because the chat isn't orbiting around me, but let's be serious here: If you participated in a group of eight, wouldn't you feel unwanted as well if, whenever you went over them, and only one or two greeted you while the rest ignored you, and someone else appeared and everyone instantly greeted him/her?

It might not necessarily be that they're ignoring you. More often than not, when one brings up a topic, nobody (or very few) responds because 1. They might not be interested in the topic, 2. They have no idea what to say, or 3. They're AFK. If it makes you feel better, I used to be the underdog in many chat rooms (and I think I still am).

I bring up a lot of stuff in chat that goes without a response. Years of being ignored like that sort of taught me that not everything one brings up needs a response, but everyone thinks differently. While one might not be affected as much, some might shed a few tears at their loneliness.

Yeah, in school they teach you to include everyone. Even now, with "multi-culturalism" and "All Humans are Created Equal", people are still being excluded. It's hard for many people to accept, and I'm not telling you to suck it up and accept it, because I've been told that and it doesn't fix anything. It's a very difficult thing to accept, and many people don't. For those that do, it's like condemning oneself to an eternity of loneliness.

Things like this are very difficult for many people to handle, because you can't really force people to accept you, and in a place like a wiki having special rights like rollback or admin doesn't make you any more powerful or famous than other users. Admins can (and they do) be completely excluded from a chat on a website they're admin on. K6ka (talk | contribs) 19:50, March 28, 2014 (UTC)

Ah... I see. I guess you're right. But still... the not-being-greeted part still has a valid point. OpelSpeedster (talk) 19:59, March 28, 2014 (UTC)
