Anyone up for a mood to create a biography/articles of SimGurus? DrakonoSkerdikas (talk) 13:03, March 9, 2019 (UTC)

Discussion[edit source]

Maybe a list of SimGurus would be more useful than creating separate articles for everyone. —Gvaudoin 💬 16:02, March 9, 2019 (UTC)

I think creating articles for the more reknowned SimGurus would be fine. But yeah, a list would work better to list all of the SimGurus (past? and current ones). Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 18:01, June 13, 2019 (UTC)
Agreed. Maybe we should make a category for SimGurus? Here's an official list from Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheSims/lists/official-simgurus/members It's missing Ryan Vaughn though.
Who do we have so far and who do we want to add? I think I'll add a page for Lyndsay Pearson. —Gvaudoin 💬 14:20, July 12, 2019 (UTC)
Maybe we could have a template for real people too? Like the Sims templates but with different attributes. For example Twitter handle and EA account ID. —Gvaudoin 💬 15:25, July 14, 2019 (UTC)
I'm not sure that creating individual articles for every single SimGuru is necessarily a good idea. For one, many of these people may not have much in the way of biographical information. A person like Will Wright is notable in his own right because of the breadth of work he's done, not just within the Sims series, whereas many other game producers/Gurus may not have much in the way of development experience outside the series. It also seems as though most of the SimGurus tend to be less well-known within the community than the likes of, say, Grant Rodiek or Graham Nardone.
I would be in favor of creating an article that lists the SimGurus, though. Or perhaps, more broadly, an article like List of The Sims producers or something to that effect, since some notable Sims/Maxis/EA personnel are not SimGurus.
Creating a new infobox for these people is also definitely an option, and shouldn't be too difficult. What kind of information would be included on that box? The things that come to mind include name, date of birth, hometown, years active within The Sims series and/or within Maxis, games they've contributed to, and links to their twitter profiles and/or professional websites. -- LostInRiverview talk · blog · contribs 21:07, July 14, 2019 (UTC)
Now that you mention, would Lindsay need her own article? Other Gurus could maybe be mention briefly like minor Sim in its own article. Things that worked for particular game can be found under the in-game credits. DrakonoSkerdikas (talk) 21:25, July 31, 2019 (UTC)
