May I (attempt to) adapt this for the wiki I admin?[edit source]

I mean, I know in absence of another stated license, it's theoretically CC-BY-SA (unless this wiki is under a different license than every wiki I've seen for some reason?) so I could use it with attribution without asking, but I figured I'd ask as a courtesy, plus to make sure there might not be a reason I can't or shouldn't (other than it needing to be adapted to work with the fact that this wiki and the wiki I admin use different templates, of course). - Citrusellaeditswikis (talk) 18:47, February 12, 2019 (UTC)

The tool's CC BY-SA. You're absolutely welcome to use it; just provide attribution. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 19:12, February 12, 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response! - Citrusellaeditswikis (talk) 18:42, February 13, 2019 (UTC)

Potential bug in code[edit source]

I think something about this script's code is messing with category addition via the category module's "add category" button that appears at the bottom of pages in the category area (that is, this functionality).

I didn't realize this because I have the module disabled (in part because I ported in the more-powerful HotCat from a Wikimedia wiki), but someone on the wiki I run (where I copied this script's code, per the other section on this talk page) shared that they've been having issues adding categories to files using the module's button that started after (and they assumed were related to) my adding the quick license code. I turned the module on and found that I can't get categories to save, either (when "save" on the module's adder is clicked, it appears to try to save, then just turns grey).

Had a hunch it might happen on this wiki, too, because I figured it wasn't related to my changes to the license list to fit the wiki I ported this to, so I tested it and categories added in that manner don't save here, either.

Figured I'd point it out because it might be something you're interested in fixing. Please let me know if this post was too convoluted. - Citrusellaeditswikis (talk) 18:29, March 16, 2019 (UTC)

I have HotCat enabled as well, though I use an older version of HotCat since the newer versions don't work on Wikia in my experience. I've disabled visual editing entirely and only use the source editor, and I have Wikia's categories module disabled. HotCat and Quick license work just fine with each other and I have not had any issues with the two.
How are you using HotCat on Wikia? Do you have Wikia's categories module enabled? —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 19:22, March 16, 2019 (UTC)
HotCat and Quick License do work fine (I think I have the same setup as you right down to the source editing bit). IIRC, I copied HotCat's code from Wikimedia Commons (from a version dated back when Wikia was actively updating MediaWiki (i.e. around when Wikimedia was on 1.19)--it's not the latest version, but it's the latest that works), and then put it in my user JS locally on Wreck-It Ralph Wiki, which is the only place I use HotCat.
Because I'm using HotCat, I usually have the category module disabled since in my experience they conflict (which makes some amount of sense, I guess). I enabled the category module to try to figure out where a problem another user mentioned was coming from. They usually use the category module without opening the editor, and they started having problems recently (probably around when I added Quick license to the wiki) with adding categories to images using the module's functionality for that, though I didn't know they were having an issue until yesterday when they said something about thinking it was related to this tool. (Initially, before I tested, I myself thought the problem could be unrelated to this, but...) - Citrusellaeditswikis (talk) 23:39, March 16, 2019 (UTC)
I'm guessing the breakage must have been on Wikia's end, because it's find now. *confused shrug* - Citrusellaeditswikis (talk) 21:31, April 2, 2019 (UTC)
