Materialistic is a Lifestyle Trait that was introduced in The Sims 4. "These Sims can Admire and Brag about Possessions and become Sad when they haven't purchased a new item for a period of time."

Despite the description, Materialistic Sims get Tense instead of Sad if they haven't bought a new item lately.
