Matthew can be made playable by befriending and asking him to move in, or by marrying him. He has short grey hair, a large grey beard, face paint that looks like wrinkles, grey eyes, and light skin. Matthew is mostly interested in Fashion and Paranormal. He has the same facial structure as Ricky Cormier.
According to Matthew's SimDNA in SimPE, his hair was brown before it turned grey. Like other garden club members, he will sometimes appear at Community lots. Matthew wears a cobalt blue vest, and beige pants. He shares his last name with fellow Garden Club member Jill Smith, though there isn't any evidence that the two are related.
