There isn't evidence on the surface, however, that shows Max's hard work of being a [[criminal]], and although his bio implies that he is enjoying his retirement, he is currently working part-time as a [[Spa Specialist (The Sims 3)|Spa Specialist]]. Max's work performance isn't very good either, as it's halfway to the bottom red. He might need to work harder, or else he'll get fired. On the other hand, his wife Marigold has evident proof of being a successful criminal, being a retired Supervillainess. It is implied in Marigold's biography that Max may not actually be the true head of the crime family, and that Marigold is the one who really manages the "business".

Max is a [[Mean-Spirited]], [[Evil]] Sim, who also possesses the [[Kleptomaniac]] trait. His [[lifetime wish]] is to become an expert kleptomaniac and steal others' property. This would imply that his actual crime is that he directly steals property as a kleptomaniac. Even though Max is called the "legendary patriarch" he starts out with no skill points, only a career at [[Spa]]. His name might be a pun on "Maximum Racket".
