The Murphy bed is a type of bed introduced in The Sims 2: Apartment Life and reintroduced in The Sims 3: University Life. The bed folds into the wall to save space. However, unlike real-life Murphy beds, the space used by an opened bed is still considered to be in use when the bed is closed. While Sims are able to walk through that space, objects cannot be placed in that space without using the moveobjects cheat.

However, if a Sim is in a poor mood or has a low Body skill when opening the bed, the Sim will be crushed and killed.
