Pension
Pension is aquired when a sim in The Sims 3 retire at a high enough. This Level is usually Level 10 of a career, these are a sum of Simoleans credited into the household funds everyday at noon after the sims has retired at Level 10 of a career.
Take the Professional Sports Career for example; if Jared Frio retired form the Professional Sports Career as an Elder, at Level 10, then he would earn 400 a day. Once Jared died, however, all pension would stop, just like any unpaid royalties.
