Simlish is the language of the Sims. Some say it may be a mixture of Ukrainian and Tagalog[citation needed], but this has not been confirmed. It might be possible to understand by studying the Sims' speech in certain situations. There isn't an official Simlish dictionary, but an unofficial dictionary (based on The Sims 2) can be found here. It is assumed that Simlish is the official language of SimNation. Sometimes English phrases are heard, notably in The Sims 1 where child Sims say "Mmm... yummy!" whilst eating food, and in The Sims 3, where a female character on the KidZone television channel says "Well, hi there!". Rarely, French phrases, such as "bonjour" (hello) are heard.

Appearances

The Sims

The Sims featured a lot more Simlish than SimCopter (the first game feature it) and was also a lot clearer. Common phrases "ralalalalib bubaya", "commun snanna" and "o frazinnratt" This was created because EA couldn't change the Sims' language to the player's language due to limited budget and it will make them repetitive.

The Sims 2

The Sims 2 comes with better heard and newer phrases like "e wam". Common phrases are now "dej dej" and "ackabunad." Common greetings include "zune-zune" and "degg degg". When there's a problem, they will say "Shoo Flee" and "anaconda" a lot. When some female Sims walk by another Sim, their greeting will be "Ooh, voodoo!" Sometimes they'll say "Lick a rock!". When child female Sims drink juice, they sometimes say "Green iguanas fluing in the sky." They reportedly swear sometimes. Much to the amusement of many players, pregnant Sims have been known to shout "WooHoo!" while giving birth. In the Pets' expansion pack, when a Sim is teaching their dog to 'Shake' they will say 'shurb' repeatedly, obviously meaning that the word 'shurb' means 'shake.'

When female elders play at the poker table, they will usually says "Texas Goushem" which is probably a reference to Texas HoldEm (a type of poker card game).

The Sims 3

The Sims 3 has the largest Simlish vocabulary. Common phrases are "teg teg", "swebsi madoo", "madoof napso!", "abondandlain... en som?", "hubble herni", "etne condoroley","shawbo glub", "zwitz zorg", "tippaha yooredful", "shabow", "sussel!", "ibzy biz ochoy", "ayba miyba mo!", and "narbo puhzed". Sims also shout "Shamo! Jatzkey!" or "Wala!" when they cannot reach a certain area (accompanied by a "no footsteps" speech bubble). The Sims 3 is also the first Sims game where you can adjust the Sim's voices to exactly how do you want them to sound.

Simlish Songs

The Sims 2, having many celebrity players, features many renditions of popular songs sung by the original artists. Some have music videos created by EA such as Natasha' Bedingfield's Pocketful of Sunshine, Katy Perry's Hot 'n' Cold, Datarock's Fa Fa Fa, Lily Allen's Smile, and Aly & AJ's Chemicals React. However, there are also other songs that don't feature music videos but can be found in the game.

The Veronica's When it All Falls Apart is one, together with Tata Young's Zoom. These could be found in various radio stations in the game, depending on the song's actual genre.

The Sims 2 for the PC is not the only game that features Simlish songs. Paramore's Pressure could be heard in The Sims 2 for the PS2, and various Black Eyed Peas songs are heard in The Urbz: Sims in the City, where the band is one of the prominent NPC characters found in Cosmo Street.

Gwen Stefani's 4 In the Morning, Green Day's American Idiot, and Plain White T's Our Time Now and the Pussycat Dolls' Dont Cha are also other popular songs in Simlish.

Some of these songs are only available in Sims radio when certain expansion packs are installed. Ones with music videos often give clues to which expansion pack they are found in, such as Hot 'n' Cold (Apartment Life), Pocketful of Sunshine (Freetime), Fa Fa Fa (Freetime), and Smile (Seasons).

Simlish Lyrics-Paramore-Pressure

ENGLISH SIMLISH

Tell me where our time went

And if it was time well spent

Just don't let me fall asleep

Feeling empty again

'Cause I fear I might break

And I fear I can't take it

Tonight I'll lay awake, feeling empty

I can feel the pressure

It's getting closer now

We're better off without you

Now that I'm losing hope

And there's nothing else to show (show)

For all of the days that we spent

Carried away from home

Somethings I'll never know

And I had to let them go

I'm sitting all alone, feeling empty

Simlish Lyrics-Katy Perry-Hot 'N' Cold

ENGLISH SIMLISH

You change your mind

Like a girl changes clothes

Yeah you, PMS

Like a bitch, I would know

And you, always think

Always think cryprically

I should know, that you're no good for me

'Cause you're hot then you're cold

You're yes, then you're no

You're in then you're out

You're up then you're down

You're wrong when it's right

It's black and it's white

We fight, we break up

We kiss, we make up

You, you don't really wanna stay, no

You, you don't really wanna go, oh

'Cause you're hot then you're cold

You're yes then you're no

You're in then you're out

You're up then you're down

We, used to be

Just like twins, so in sync

The same, energy

Now's a dead battery

Used to laugh, 'bout nothing

Now you're plain boring

I should know, that you're not gonna change

Someone, call the doctor

Got a case of love bipolar

Stuck on a roller coaster

Can't get off this ride

You, change your mind

Like a girl, changes clothes

Vous chikanip
