The Sims
Souvenirs are added to the game with the Vacation expansion pack. Souvenirs on The Sims are found in shops, discovered while fishing won in carnival games, or uncovered while using a metal detector.
Carnival Games
Many Vacation lots come with Carnival games, which cost between §2 and §20 to play. You can earn tickets from the game if you win against another Sim, or if you're playing by yourself. The more expensive games tend to yield more tickets, and the more games you play the better you seem to become(this may be a secret skill , but it is unconfirmed) The tickets can be taken to a vendor and exchanged for a variety of useless souvenirs.
The Sims 2
Souvenirs are a new feature from Bon Voyage expansion pack. Travellers can buy souvenirs while on vacation. There are two types of souvenirs for each destination. All souvenirs cost §75.
Takemizu Village
The Pagoda by Oh The Memories and Doll by Oh The Memories souvenirs can be found in the Asian vacation destination Takemizu Village.
Collecting 5 of any far east souvenirs and placing them on the shelf included in the expansion will allow faster skill building.
Three Lakes
The Bit o' Vug and Lumberjack's Pride souvenirs can be found in the mountain vacation destination Three Lakes.
Collecting 5 of any mountain souvenirs and placing them on the shelf included in the expansion will allow better outcomes for non romance social interactions.
Twikkii Island
Collecting 5 of any seashells and placing them on the shelf included in the expansion will cause a slower decay of the bladder motive.
Collecting 5 of any island souvenirs and placing them on the shelf included in the expansion will allow better outcomes for romance social interactions.
Collecting 5 voodoo dolls and placing them on the shelf included in the expansion will cause Sims to imagine that are being attacked by bees.
