Mermaids have similar needs to normal Sims, however,but replace the ''[[Hygiene]]'' mermaidsneed havewith ana additionalnew need, called hydrationHydration. In order to keepmaintain itthis upneed, a mermaid Sim can: go swimming, take(either in the ocean or a bathswimming pool), shower, bathe or take a drink someof water. While swimming in the water theocean, mermaidMermaids can call uponhave the ability to summon an ''[[Dolphin|Azure Dolphin]]. ''Azure Dolphins'' to''function interactidentically withto orregular fetchDolphins, thingssave for them, thisthe action takes away thirty hydration. Mermaids are also ableability to sunbathesummon andthem sleep while in the wateranywhere.
Mermaids also respond to the Ordinary Conch, an item found while Diving for Shells.
Mermaids also have a conch shell. If a conch shell is blown, any mermaids nearby will go to where the conch has been blown and make a dolphin-like sound.
