Fame[edit source]

First off, I didn't include the charisma challenge because I did not know about it. That being said, it currently states that completing the opportunity will provide Celebrity status... I assume this status is different from the Fame that I am referring to in Superstar i.e. Super-stardom. Please elaborate if you know. LostInRiverview 13:44, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Wikis are collaborative, so it's okay if you don't know something. I actually don't know much of either which is why I didn't move it out of the "Non-Recurring Themes" section. However there does seem to be similarities as mentioned at Fan. --a_morris (talk) 14:45, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
I've had experience with Superstar-type stardom in TS1 but have yet to achieve Sims 3 fame. If anything, I'd say that the overall theme of The Sims: Superstar is fame and glamor, the fame in The Sims 3 seems to just be a minor feature in an expansive game. But, by that notion, things like cars (nightlife) or parties (house party) should be considered game themes as well, since they were eventually incorporated into the base game. So, in other words, I guess it all depends on whether the Fame in Superstar is repeated in The Sims 3, which I have not yet experienced so I cannot judge. LostInRiverview 14:10, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Follow-up: It might just be better to not distinguish between repeating and non-repeating themes, and instead just list all the themes and whether they exist in more than one game. Thoughts? LostInRiverview 14:13, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Pattern[edit source]

Actually, I did notice that the covers of each games have pattern. For example, In TS2 basegame cover, there are several sims as the cover. Next, in TS2 EP, there are 2 sims(male&female) as the representation of the EP theme and there are several sims' shadow behind the two sims. And in TS3, the cover is several sims and one sims is located inside one diamond shaped. And for TS3 EP, There are 6 big half-diamond-shaped and every half-diamond-shaped represent something about the EP. So, I guess the next EPs for TS3 will have this pattern.

Next Expansion Pack[edit source]

Totally spitballing here, but I think I've narrowed down the new Sims 3 expansion pack choices to a Seasons pack (which would be a little difficult seeing as the entire town needs to be raining, snowing, or hailing), a Bon Voyage expansion pack (granted, we've already had WA, but Grant Rodiek hinted the possibility of another vacation pack), and Magic. And, seeing as TS1 and TS2 had 7-8 expansion packs, I presume that we're only going to have two to three more.
Shame. I'd have loved to see a Strangetown kind of town, but I don't know how that'd fit in. Maybe it would be included in the Magic pack. Duskey stated in a blog that he'd like the idea of a Space-themed expansion pack, which would be cool. Along with that, mermaids would be an interesting twist to the game, but unlikely in retrospect. I think that's it, really. The Sims 4 is apparently already in production(?), so I don't think they'll be focusing too much on the third one now.
Darn shame. --TDIFan13 (My Talk and My Contributions!) 08:03, November 12, 2011 (UTC)

Showtime & Master Suite Stuff?[edit source]

Uhm, Master Suite Stuff should not be included in a list of SP's that have been released as of July 2011, as it doesn't release until March 2012. And Showtime should be reworded in its paragraph, as it has not been released.--Ltjay14 01:27, January 8, 2012 (UTC)

Oh, so that's why you excluded Master Suite Stuff before. Both the SP and EP have been announced as well as its release dates, thus they're valid EP and SP to be on the list. Instead of excluding it, I think it's better for you to add notes beside the title e.g. "Master Suite Stuff (will be released on March 2012). Nikel Talk 01:37, January 8, 2012 (UTC)
We could drop the dates and set them as List of The Sims 3 EP's/SP's --Ltjay14 01:48, January 8, 2012 (UTC)
List of Expansion Packs will be redundant since there's already this page. I've added a note "With one in development" Nikel Talk 02:01, January 8, 2012 (UTC)

Temporary protect?[edit source]

While it might be not so necessary, perhaps we could temporarily protect this page until Diesel Stuff is released. Nikel Talk 11:49, June 11, 2012 (UTC)

Stuff packs Sims 2[edit source]

I'm confused about the counting of the stuff packs for The Sims 2. The stuff pages claim (if you look at Mansion & Garden) that there are only 9 stuff packages (8 without the holiday edition) while there are clearly 10 stuff packages (9). I think somewhere the counting went wrong but I'm not really sure, so thereby for changing every page I want to check if someone noticed this too. Tiezel (talk) 18:15, November 22, 2012 (UTC)

I think the count on those pages treated the Holiday Party Pack and Happy Holiday Stuff as the same, since Happy Holiday Stuff is an expanded re-release of the Holiday Party Pack. If you do that, there are 8 non-Holiday stuff packs. Dharden (talk) 00:13, November 23, 2012 (UTC)

Problems faced by installing earlier Expansion Packs[edit source]

I am aware of the unfortunate complications and issues that can occur if you install an expansion pack in The Sims 2 and then installing some earlier ones.

Luckily I haven't yet taken the risk on my priceless saved game data. But if I wanted to install some earlier expansion packs, how am I meant to fix up any problems and issues that are caused by installing previous expansion packs after later ones?

So if I was to do this, I'd be able to download some patches to fix up any issues that I may get...correct? (Yes I would make a backup of my saved game first) C.Syde (talk | contribs) 11:09, April 18, 2014 (UTC)

What kind of problems and issues are you talking about? It's recommended that you install the expansion packs by order, but it's never implied that not doing it in order will critically harm your game. If it's true, those with very little knowledge about the history of Sims (the order of release) are very unfortunate. Nikel Talk Vote! 13:03, April 18, 2014 (UTC)

For example, if you tried to install The Sims 2: Apartment Life, and load the game; then you exit and install The Sims 2: Nightlife and The Sims 2: Bon Voyage; some of the features from Nightlife and Bon Voyage won't function properly. Like the Witch Doctor will have a white mask, with the text "accessory mask" and a red cross. This will also happen with some wallpaper and items such as trees.

Also the hairstyles and outfits from Nightlife and Bon Voyage won't show up on screen. Instead one of the hairstyles and outfits from the base game will appear. So in other words, installing more recent expansion packs and then installing some earlier ones may cause the items of the earlier ones that were recently installed to not function properly. C.Syde (talk | contribs) 21:41, April 18, 2014 (UTC)

I've done reinstallation for a number of times, and it always started with base game, then Apartment Life, and then University through FreeTime. No such glitches ever happened to me. Does this really happen in your game right now, suspecting it as a result of installing in an incorrect order? Nikel Talk Vote! 08:33, April 19, 2014 (UTC)

I've installed several expansion packs on a computer (not the one I usually use) starting with Seasons, then University, Free Time, Bon Voyage and Pets. After I'd loaded the game for the first time since installing the expansion packs, I installed Nightlife. All the content from the other expansion packs work fine but Nightlife fails to show it's hairstyles, items and clothing correctly on screen. C.Syde (talk | contribs) 11:32, April 19, 2014 (UTC)

Perhaps there's just a problem with installation? Maybe uninstalling and reinstalling Nightlife can fix it? I swear I've never had such bug before. K6ka usually knows this technical stuff better. Nikel Talk Vote! 11:56, April 19, 2014 (UTC)

question.[edit source]

I plan on purchasing the sims 3 soon for my b-day, they have the base game on Amazon. I don't trust the download versions from other game sites (including the pirate bay--many people recommended to NOT to use that site.....) it lead to many viruses from others that posted it on youtube, and I heard it is more "complicated" or harder to install... so... this is my first time Italic textbuying the disc for pc...I use Microsoft windows 7 I really don't know what to do... can anyone help me and show me what to do when using the base game? is it simple or hard? And also, what do I do with the expansion packs? do I just insert the disc and get the things I need to put it in the game then eject it? I don't know.. (I had the Ps2 version of the sims 2 and it isn't great so im trying pc out...for the first time...)--gianna156 :D (talk) 05:05, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

You insert the TS3 disc into the disk drive. Afterwards there is an installation process that the game will take through itself. You will have to click a few options when needed, but the installation is very easy. I also do not recommend ejecting the disc when the game is installing. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 05:18, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

okay and when the process is completed I can then eject the disc? does that go for the expansion packs too?what do I do with the ex. packs ?--gianna156 :D (talk) 08:10, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

You will need the disc to play the game. When you purchase expansion packs, you use the LATEST expansion pack to play the game. The expansion packs are installed in virtually the same way the base game is. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 08:27, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

I see, I just use the recent disc I wanted to install into the game and that's all? -sorry for asking a lot of questions, I just need to make sure I do this right.)--gianna156 :D (talk) 08:41, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

That is correct. When you buy multiple expansion packs, use the most recently released pack's disc to play the game. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 09:32, June 21, 2014 (UTC)
Okay, thank you so much for helping me :) gianna156 :D (talk) 10:07, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

FP[edit source]

In The Sims 4, there are EPs, SPs, GPs, and FPs. The Holiday Celebration Pack back in December is said to be an FP. Once we can figure out what that is technically and officially, I guess we can put that information on the article. Nikel Talk Vote! 10:47, January 16, 2015 (UTC)
