My theory is that Robert Crumplebottom is a future decendant of Agnes Crumplebottom, possibly by adoption and/or getting pregnant by a one night stand, as she was never able to find love. And that's how the Crumplebottom legacy was set to continue... Robert married the Mrs. Crumplebottom from the Sims 2, hence why she has the 'Mrs.' in her name, and that's why it said she idolized Miss Crumplebottom from the Sims 1, who is grumpy Agnes Crumplebottom. That's probably why Robert is not mentioned, he must have moved away from his mother, or considering it was The Sims, much thought was not put into showing him since Miss Crumplebottom is an NPC. But that might explain some of it.
This is all taken into account with the timeline of The Sims 3, The Sims, The Sims 2, and The Sims 4's "Alternate Timeline."
