Style

When adding new patches we should strive to keep the same formatting. A good rule of thumb would be to copy-paste the layout of the previous patch. Just remember to remove all the content on the page, but not the tables. Update game versions and dates. Add relevant images. Adopt a simple bullet listing of changes. Split changes for expansions and stuff packs into new level 2 headlines. Most importantly: Don't add, modify or delete the notes from EA's site. Correcting a typo or punctuation error is okay, but keep notes, clarifications, helpful links and after-thoughts in references. | Duskey | 14:44, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks to User:A morris I've been able to make a template for patches. At the time of writing it is only implemented on the Patch 12 page, so please use that for copy+paste of future patch notes. Duskey(talk)(blog) 03:39, June 19, 2010 (UTC)
Added the {{Patch-nav}} template, only added to this page so far. I'm thinking the forced category should be removed from the patch template and moved to patch-nav. Duskey(talk)(blog) 18:52, June 21, 2010 (UTC)

Directories

I'm beginning to think naming the patches with only the second integear was a bad idea. I'm also abit dubious about having a 'patch' and 'patch #' under the Sims 3 page. I'm beginning to like 'The Sims 3/patch/1.12.7' more for example. Restructuring would be abit of pain. Especially since I'm sure we can expect an Ambitions patch soon'ish to fix all the new bugs. I'm not quite sure whether to do this before or after. Duskey(talk)(blog) 03:41, June 19, 2010 (UTC)

I decided to keep the 'Patch 12' format and added a further explanation why at the top of the main page. The new patch-nav template should combat any confusions about directories related to patches under The Sims 3. Duskey(talk)(blog) 18:54, June 21, 2010 (UTC)

Table

I broke the table (SOOOO SORRY) trying to add that Fast Lane's patch number is 5.0.44.008001 (i didn't try to add the ".008001" part just the "5.0.44") Please fix this, someone.

Fixed, and by the way, that post above was from me (not logged in)--Eduardog3000 21:28, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

I believe it's due to the "brilliant" Rich Text Editor. I made an edit now, which might fix the issue. See The Sims Wiki talk:Development Portal#RTE editor. And btw, the "preview" button is your friend. --Duskeytalk 09:50, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
Someone needs to fix the table, it is so "delicate" that when LostInRiverview changed the text in the section above the table (well, he un-did a minor edit by me), the table broke.--Eduardog3000 02:29, September 25, 2010 (UTC)
I've noticed this problem on a couple other pages, one of which comes to mind right now is The Sims Wiki:Requests for bureaucratship (with the template at the top). Apparently some users don't experience this issue, but I always have. -- LostInRiverview talk · blog 02:33, September 25, 2010 (UTC)
Are you using the Rich Text Editor? Because I think that might be the problem, because the only time I have ever broken a table was using the RTE.--Eduardog3000 02:36, September 25, 2010 (UTC)
Fixed I think... Upon looking at edit history and at the code, I noticed that the beginning of the table always moves up a line when entering an edit, regardless of whether the table itself was edited. I remedied this situation by simply adding another line between the <center> and the beginning of the table, so it should be permanently fixed now (I hope).
To answer your question, Eduardog, no... I never edit complex pages in RTE, since it causes way too many problems for me. -- LostInRiverview talk · blog 02:39, September 25, 2010 (UTC)
I think one possible solution is to save the table to a template so if another part of the page is edited, it won't break the table.--Eduardog3000
