In order for the player to be able to choose the final trait when they turn into a adult, a teen must have a school performance of an A. Otherwise, the new trait will be random. A male teen Sim

Teenager is a life stage of a Sim in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3.

The Sims 2

Teenager is the fourth life stage of a Sim in The Sims 2, and lasts for a maximum of 15 days. In stories of many families on Sims 2, the story would partly focus on a teen.

  • When a Sim child becomes a teenager, their aspiration is set by the player for the first time in their lives. If Nightlife or later is installed, turn-ons and turn-offs are also set at this time.
  • The teenage stage is crucially important to a Sim's development, as romantic relationships can develop for the first time (and most teen Sims will have a recurring want for their first kiss) and - when University is installed - success at school and in skill building can earn valuable scholarship money.
  • Teens can also take a part time job.
  • Some teens have hygiene problems - they can get zits if hygiene drops. This adds an "use acne cream" option when using the mirror and the teen will act frightened when they "gussy up"
  • Some teens will run away if their relationship with their family is too low.
  • Teens can cook, drive a car (Nightlife Expansion Pack required), and use gym equipment.
  • They can live on their own if they become orphans or when all older Sims have moved out of the lot.
  • Teens are unique in that they can grow up into one of two separate ages: Adult or Young Adult, the former will happen if the teen does not go to University.
  • Teens can do everything an adult does but cannot Woo-Hoo, take a full time job, get married, or get pregnant. (However, there are hacks which enable Teens to have Woo-Hoo, get married, and get pregnant)

The Sims 3

A Teen in The Sims 3

Teen is a life stage in The Sims 3. Teens can date and have a boyfriend/girlfriend as in the Sims 2 (they can't have a romantic relationship with young adults, but there is a hack that allows them to). They can kiss, hug, flirt, etc. but as in the Sims 2, they can't WooHoo or get pregnant. With a mod uploaded at ModTheSims2.com, teenagers can WooHoo, Try for Babies, get married and move in with each other. Teens have 4 traits. Their next life stage is Young Adult. Teen Sims are about 12 to 18 years old.

Like child Sims, teenage Sims have a curfew. However, the curfew for teenagers is 11:00pm, which is an hour later than the curfew of a child. Teenagers who violate curfew get the positive “Out after Curfew” moodlet (child age Sims do not get this moodlet). Just like children, teens that are caught violating curfew by the police will be sent home and given the negative “Caught after Curfew” moodlet.

In order for the player to be able to choose the final trait when they turn into an adult, a teen must have a school performance of an A. Otherwise, the new trait will be random. The worse they do at school, the worse the trait will be (if the teen fails, the trait may be something like "loser", "unlucky", or "evil"...)

Things Teens can do that younger Sims can't:

  • Get a part time job
  • Have a romantic relationship
  • Not be taken away by the Social Worker
  • Have the 'Childish' or 'Dislikes Children' traits
  • Drive cars
