Chat moderator Yes Open to requests.

Chat moderator requests are almost always open on The Sims Wiki.

Minimum requirements

If you feel that you are a valuable member of Chat and you think you would benefit from the Chat moderator rights, this is where to apply. The minimum requirements are:

  • Be an active user of Chat (on chat every day, or nearly every day) for at least four months.
  • Having a fair knowledge on how Chat works and the rules of using Chat.
  • A good record of civil behavior - if you have been told off for messing around or are constantly bringing up heart-touching (i.e sensitive topics) or inappropriate topics, then you are not ready for this.
  • Having good English skills is a necessity as English is the only language allowed on main Chat.
    • Spking liek dis meens ur not rdy 2 bcome Chat mod.

Stage 1: Nominating

  1. Users may nominate themselves for Chat moderator rights.
  2. Multiple requests at one time are allowed.
  3. Moderator candidates that are not given any additional privileges are ineligible to be nominated or to nominate themselves for at least a month.

Stage 2: Voting

  1. Users may support, be neutral toward, or oppose the request. Users must provide a reason behind their position.
  2. Users must be active in Chat in order to vote.
  3. Everyone's vote counts as one vote. Admins do not hold extra power.
  4. An administrator will then determine whether consensus has been reached. This means that Chat moderator requests require at least a two-thirds support rate to pass. Strength of argument is more important than the number of votes.
  5. Admins may vote on a request. However, an admin who votes on a request and later reviews the request must review according to the vote result, not their personal opinion of the nominee.
  6. Votes may be closed early if it is obvious that consensus against it will not be reached. (e.g. 6+ support and 0 oppose)

What you will do as a Chat moderator

  • Protect Chat from disruptive behavior by warning, kicking and/or banning disruptive individuals.
  • Maintain an active presence in Chat so that it's more easily moderated; it's not worth having these rights if you're hardly ever in Chat.

What you may not do as a Chat moderator

  • Use your operator privileges to take advantage of users or to control the Chat.
  • Ignore the needs and wants of Chat users.
  • Abuse rights by using them incorrectly, for personal reasons or against non-disruptive users.

Spell-Caster Jr

Hello all, I would like to apply for the role of Chat Moderator.

My main reason for wanting to become a Chat Moderator is that I am not currently very active on the wiki, and would like to help the community more by moderating chat.

  • I am very friendly to most of the active members on chat, and newcomers.
  • I am also very active on chat, joining almost everyday.
  • I try to help users if they ask, and am very familiar with the rules of chat.

I would be extremely grateful if my request is accepted.

If not, I respect your decision, and I can always try again at a later time.

Thank you.

Hurshbr

Hello! I think I should become chat moderator because...

  • I don't attack other users, I try to help out, I almost never swear, and I try to avoid fight-causing topics.
  • I have been much more active on chat lately.
  • I know that many people say that there are too many chat mods already, but as I write this, there are none in chat right now.
  • I have fairly good English when I am not in a hurry.
  • I try to stop fights and attacks.

Well, that is my request. Please let me know what you think! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hurshbr (talkcontribs)

Strong support - She's right. She's on chat when everybody is gone. She gets along with everybody really well. (New or not.) She would make a great Chat Mod on this wiki. She deserves the rights. Fangirl(Go ahead! Talk!Don't even bother looking here.)
User rights aren't deserved and shouldn't be seen as a reward for one's contributions to the wiki. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 12:40, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
Oppose - One week of increased activity is not enough to claim you are active enough to be a chat mod, nor does it even meet the minimum requirements to put in a request. GAHSIcepick (talk) 15:40, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
Support - No issues come to mind that I feel would affect your ability to handle yourself as a chat moderator. As far as activity goes, Hurshbr is evidently around when nobody else is and we've had an incident before where somebody posted porn and blamed it on another user when no other mods were around. If she has improved her activity as of late then we can assume it will only get better as time goes on. Having given this some thought, I can't find a good argument to oppose this request and I'm confident Hurshbr will be an effective chat moderator. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 12:40, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
Oppose - As for Hurshbr becoming a chat mod, I think she's capable. However, I do have a severe concern about activity, as she's only been really quite active for about a week, maybe a little bit more, and she's quite on-and-off too. I'd recommend some serious consistent activity improvement, to which I will almost certainly reconsider my vote. AsherÉire 'Sup? 15:34, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
Neutral - I kinda agree with everyone. Yes, her activity is increasing but at the same time she's still not on all that often. But as Lab said, it could increase over time. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/woganhemlockstest/images/c/c4/300.gifColinThePanda meow 16:13, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
Neutral - I can see a supporting and opposing point to Hurshbr becoming a Chat Mod. Firstly, she is a user who I think will be most capable with handling the rights of Chat Mod and I would feel confident enough to have her as a Chat Mod. However, I am slightly worried about her activity. She tends to come onto Chat, in a nice manner but then abruptly leaves without a word said and doesn't come back for either a day or longer. I'm not opposing this request, but I am not supporting it. If Hurshbr can approve her activity then I will perhaps support next time around. Beds (parlare - da leggere) 16:46, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
Oppose I'm sorry, but after some hard thinking, I've come to realise that you are only on Chat twice a week and only visit for a few minutes. Improve your activity and I will reconsider my vote, but you are almost there. Sorry. Beds (parlare - da leggere) 21:29, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
Oppose - As has been said above, I do not believe that Hurshbr is active enough to be made a chat mod. RossInSA (talk) 15:24, September 3, 2013 (UTC)

The general consensus here is that while Hurshbr is a user who probably could effectively handle being a chat moderator, her activity is somewhat lacking and she could do with being more active in Chat. As such, Hurshbr will not receive chat moderator rights at this time. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 19:32, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
