Trash compactors are large appliances used for the disposal of garbage, and hold more than normal indoor garbage cans. They can be found in buy mode under "Appliances -> Large Appliances".

Notes
The Sims
Trash compactors in The Sims are standalone appliances. The surface of a trash compactor will not be used for food preparation, but objects can be placed on it.
The Sims 2
In The Sims 2, trash compactors must be placed under a regular counter; they cannot be placed under an island-style counter. The moveobjects cheat is not required for this. A trash compactor can be used if there is only one free space in front of it, but cannot be repaired unless there are at least two free spaces in front of it. In Open for Business a CleanBot will not empty a trash compactor.
The Sims 3
In The Sims 3, trash compactors do not need to be placed under a counter, but they can be.[confirmation needed]
