Ty is something of a geek, and his facial appearance hints that he has Asian ancestry, mainly Japanese.

In the character description, it is said that he enjoys discussing his philosophical theories with Castor Nova, Allegra Gorey, and Jared Starchild. But while he is already best friends with Jared Starchild, he does not know Castor Nova nor Allegra Gorey at the start of the game unless you combine their household together.
