An unused accessory are clothing/genetics that appears in a picture (a family tree, mostly) but does not appear in the game. This is a thing in The Sims and The Sims 2, though it is much more noticed in The Sims 2. There are a few examples of sims such as Irma Oldie and Darleen Dreamer. Here are a gallery of a few pictures showing sims with unused accessories.
