Vampire Powers

The Vampire Powers and Weaknesses perk trees

Vampire powers and weaknesses are a customizable perk system and gameplay feature for the vampire lifestate in The Sims 4: Vampires.

Vampire Ranks[edit | edit source]

There are five Vampire Ranks:

  • Rank 1 - Vampire Fledgling
  • Rank 2 - Minor Vampire
  • Rank 3 - Prime Vampire
  • Rank 4 - Master Vampire
  • Rank 5 - Grand Master Vampire

Vampire Sims will have several options to increase their Vampire Rank.

  • Sparring/Fighting/Curing Vampires
  • Researching Vampiric Lore
  • Being mentored by higher ranked Vampires
  • Using vampiric powers
  • Drinking Plasma

Each Vampire Rank unlocks another row of Powers and Weaknesses to choose from. When vampires reach a new Vampire Rank, they will be required to choose a weakness, or else they will not be allowed to learn any new powers.

Powers and Weaknesses[edit | edit source]

Powers[edit | edit source]

Vampires can choose certain powers as they gain more experience and become stronger. There are a total of 25 powers, divided evenly (5 per each Vampire Rank), with several powers having their own tiers (up to a maximum of 3). Also some powers conflict with certain weaknesses, preventing vampires from picking them.

Weaknesses[edit | edit source]

At the expense of becoming a more powerful vampire, the vampire must develop a weakness. There are a total of 11 weaknesses, divided unevenly amongst the Vampire Ranks. Some weaknesses have their own tiers (up to a maximum of 3), and some conflict with certain powers, barring vampires from being able to choose them.

Detect Personality

Learn all about another Sim's traits.

Do away with tedious conversations and getting to know others. (Sim Name) will learn other Sims' personalities instantly by visiting their frontal lobe himself/herself.

Bat Form

Gain the ability to fly anywhere as a bat.

Nobody ever suspects the bat, and no one certainly won't suspect (Sim Name) flying about as such. Move from hither to yon, and even find love, as a sonar wielding creature of the night.

Cast Hallucination

Make another Sim talk to themselves!

Everyone needs a friend, yes? What if the friend is one of (Sim Name)'s devising, and what if it doesn't really exist? No one will be able to tell!

Eternally Welcome

Gain the power to lock & unlock doors at other Sims' homes.

Having to ask permission to enter the home is so pedestrian. Not only may (Sim Name) enter a home without invitation, with just a small burst of Vampire Energy he/she can lock and unlock doors as he/she sees fit. Will he/she wreak lock havoc? Of course!

Use less Vampire Energy!

Tier 1
(Sim Name) is beginning to study his/her Vampiric Energy and the many ways it can be used. He/She can expend less energy for the same effect. Further study will reduce Vampire Energy costs even more...
Tier 2
Through study and practice (Sim Name) has reduced the amount of Vampiric Energy needed to fuel his/her powers. Continued study will yield even greater efficiency...
Tier 3
A Master manipulator of occult power, (Sim Name) has finessed his/her Vampiric Energy use to the ultimate in efficiency. The cost of using all powers is significantly reduced.

Make nearby Sims find you attractive. Conflicts with Undead Aura.

Tier 1
(Sim Name)'s Vampiric Charms makes him/her all the more effective at the game of love.
Tier 2
Your ability to attract and seduce other Sims has grown beyond mere Charm to full on Allure.
Tier 3
With but a single glance your seductive charisma can lure a fascinated mortal to your side...

Win fights more often and work out more efficiently.

Tier 1
Vampiric Strength grants (Sim Name) an edge when it comes to fitness, sparring or fighting.
Tier 2
(Sim Name)'s unnatural Strength grows, granting him/her a powerful advantage in all matters of fitness, fighting and sparring.
Tier 3
Your preternatural Strength has reached its peak. Not only are you vastly superior in combat, you can crush any raw elements into refined minerals with your bare hands.

Command

Control the minds of other Sims.

When life's pesky errands must be run, spare (Sim Name)'s cuticles and soft, ancient hands, and have him/her command others to perform Cleaning, Repairing and other joyful household tasks instead.

Garlic Immunity

Gain Immunity to the negative effects of Garlic objects.

Garlic is a vile and wretched weed that unfortunately has a negative impact on the vampiric kind. Well, no longer, assuming (Sim Name) adapts with Garlic Immunity.

Vampire Creation

Gain the power to turn other Sims into Vampires.

(Sim Name)'s desire may be to increase the pool of vampiric kind, either to ensure he/she has eternal friends for his/her eternal life, or to outpace the Sim population. With Vampire Creation, (Sim Name) can turn Sims into Vampires, allowing them to live, as the undead, for the first time.

Rank 3 (Prime Vampire)
Mesmerize

Put another Sim into a trance.

When a prey is moving too quickly, or just won't stop talking, or (Sim Name) simply wants to force a Sim into a catatonic state, he/she simply needs Mesmerize.

Become stronger in the night time!

Tier 1
The night time is the right time for the nocturnal undead. As a Child of the Moon, (Sim Name) will be able to wield more powers, will learn skills faster, will tire less quickly, and will be happier. Embrace the moon and soak in its benefits!
Tier 2
The night time is the right time for the nocturnal undead. As a Creature of the Night, (Sim Name) will be able to wield more powers, will learn skills faster, will tire less quickly, and will be happier. Embrace the moon and soak in its benefits!
Tier 3
The night time is the right time for the nocturnal undead. As a Master of Darkness, (Sim Name) will be able to wield more powers, will learn skills faster, will tire less quickly, and will be happier. Embrace the moon and soak in its benefits!

Irresistible Slumber

Put another Sim to sleep.

What if (Sim Name) could command others to sleep at will? His/Her will, that is! Irresistible Slumber will drop them to the floor with nothing but Zzzzs and snoring to show for it.

Manipulate Life Spirit

Gain the power to Drain Life Spirit from other Sims, or Restore Life Spirit from those who have been drained.

Unlocks true power over life itself! Drains Life Spirit from other Sims, making them highly susceptible to adverse vampiric powers. Enables (Sim Name) to protect the ones he/she loves, or simply refresh his/her prey using Restore Life Spirit.

Tier 1: Vampiric Slumber
Tier 2: Greater Vampiric Slumber
Tier 3: Vampiric Trance

Increases rate of Power gain during sleep and lets (Sim Name) sleep more soundly. Conflicts with Fitful Sleep.

Tier 1
What's the point of being undead if (Sim Name) has to sleep like the living? Vampiric Slumber will provide a deeper, more relaxing sleep that replenishes his energy more quickly.
Tier 2
(Sim Name) sleeps very soundly in his/her coffin. Dreams, nightmares, noises... these human trivialities seldom bother him/her.
Tier 3
(Sim Name) no longer sleeps like mortal beings. Instead he/she enters a trance-like state where his/her body freezes in corpse-like immobility as his/her mind summons Eldritch Power to fuel his/her undead form.

Rank 4 (Master Vampire)
Tier 1: Dampened Emotions
Tier 2: Suppressed Emotions
Tier 3: Deadened Emotions

Become more resistant to changes in emotion. Conflicts with Eternal Sadness.

Tier 1
(Sim Name)'s emotions are cool and calm. Not for him/her are the petty peeves and lusts of the flesh that so many other Vampires suffer from.
Tier 2
(Sim Name)'s unruly emotions are tightly controlled by his/her iron will. Rages are almost completely a thing of the past.
Tier 3
(Sim Name) has moved beyond mortal emotion to a world of total logic and calm precision. Love, Anger, Disgust - these are things of his/her distant past.

Supernatural Speed

Gain the power to run at super speed.

Walking is pedestrian in every way. The time it takes to walk from here to there could be better spent manipulating prey. Supernatural Speed will elevate (Sim Name)'s pace greatly, blurring him/her from Sim eyes in the process.

Deprive Needs

Deplete the Needs of another Sim!

Manipulating common Sims is key to weakening prey. Deprive Needs allows one to deplete the Hunger, Energy, Bladder, or Hygiene of a chosen target. Make them uncomfortable, then strike!

Tier 1: Sun Resistance
Tier 2: Greater Sun Resistance
Tier 3: Perfect Sun Resistance

Gain resistance to the harmful effects of sunlight. Conflicts with Thin Skinned.

Tier 1
The sun's rays are a disastrous downside of the vampiric path. With Sun Resistance, (Sim Name) can better withstand its rays.
Tier 2
The sun's rays are a disastrous downside of the vampiric path. With Greater Sun Resistance (Sim Name) is more impervious to the sun's cursed effects, but he/she must still be wary and cautious during the daytime hours.
Tier 3
The sun's rays are a disastrous downside of the vampiric path. No longer! With Perfect Sun Resistance, (Sim Name) can completely ignore the sun's destructive rays. They will wash over his/her skin harmlessly as he/she becomes a day walker.

Odorless

Hygiene Need doesn't decrease anymore.

As (Sim Name) evolves away from the life of the living and becomes a true creature of the night, he/she can part with the trappings of his/her human form. By completely discarding his/her need to satisfy his/her Hygiene, he/she can focus on other pursuits.

Rank 5 (Grand Master Vampire)
Tier 1: Influence Emotion
Tier 2: Alter Emotion
Tier 3: Control Emotion

Make nearby Sims feel a specific emotion.

Tier 1
(Sim Name) can subtly direct the emotions of others, nudging them this way or that way as he/she sees fit.
Tier 2
Your influence over mortal emotions has grown, allowing you to alter all manner of situations to meet your needs.
Tier 3
You have achieved mastery of mortal emotions- they are playthings for you to control as you wish!

Mist Form

Gain the power to teleport anywhere as a cloud of mist.

In a world of vampiric and unseen forces, alternative methods of travel are needed to accomplish one's nefarious tasks. Mist Form allows for instantaneous and cloudy travel.

Beyond the Herd

Social Need doesn't decrease anymore.

As (Sim Name) evolves away from the life of the living and becomes a true creature of the night, he/she can part with the trappings of his/her human form. By diminishing his/her need to Socialize, he/she can focus on other pursuits.

Tamed Thirst

(Sim Name) will never drink from other Sims on his/her own when low on Thirst. Conflicts with Insatiable Thirst.

The threat of entering into a frenzy at extreme stages of thirst should give every vampire pause. Tamed Thirst calms the vampire, meaning (Sim Name) will never go into a frenzy or drink from Sims in an uncontrolled manner. Tamed Thirst is for the refined and genteel vampire.

Immortal Pleasures

Fun Need doesn't decrease anymore.

As (Sim Name) evolves away from the life of the living and becomes a true creature of the night, he/she can part with the trappings of his/her human form. By diminishing his/her need to have Fun, he/she can focus on other pursuits.

List of weaknesses[edit | edit source]

Rank 1 (Vampire Fledgling)
Withered Stomach

(Sim Name) vomits when eating human food.

Putting on the appearance of a normal Sim will be less practical, as (Sim Name) will become nauseous and vomit from eating normal food. What's more important? The ruse, or his/her digestion?

Guilty Drinker

Become guilty when drinking from Sims without permission.

Too much empathy for the prey means (Sim Name) will become stressed when drinking from unwilling prey.

Uncontrollable Hissing

(Sim Name) will occasionally disgust others by hissing uncontrollably.

(Sim Name)'s social life may take an unexpected dip from time to time due to his/her uncontrollable hissing. It's socially odd, and contains a large degree of saliva. Get control of it!

Rank 2 (Minor Vampire)
Sloppy Drinker

(Sim Name) gains less Thirst when drinking.

Unfortunately, (Sim Name) has a drinking problem. He/She drinks from his/her prey sloppily, which leads to excess, and well, it just takes much longer to satisfy Thirst.

Tier 1: Thin Skinned
Tier 2: Flammable Flesh
Tier 3: Combustible Plasma

Makes the sun more harmful than normal. Conflicts with Sun Resistance.

Tier 1
(Sim Name)'s bone dry skin is quick to burn in the sun's rays. He/She must be careful when outdoors during daytime hours.
Tier 2
Your undead flesh is significantly weakened against UV rays. Avoid sunlight as much as possible.
Tier 3
Your night suffused plasma boils at the slightest touch of the sun. A few moments exposure could end your existence.

Rank 3 (Prime Vampire)
Sleep of the Undead

Only able to sleep in Coffins.

(Sim Name) has very particular needs when it comes to slumber. He/She can only sleep and nap in coffins as no other surface is appropriate for his/her eternal bones.

Tier 1: Fitful Sleep
Tier 2: Nightmarish Sleep

Power gain is reduced while sleeping. Conflicts with Vampiric Slumber.

Tier 1
Conflicted by a lifetime without end. (Sim Name) sleeps less soundly and recovers his/her vampire energy more slowly.
Tier 2
Haunted by nightmares that terrorize even the Immortal undead, (Sim Name)'s once restful sleep is further interrupted and his/her power recovers even more slowly.

Rank 4 (Master Vampire)
Insatiable Thirst

(Sim Name) gets Thirstier more quickly. Conflicts with Tamed Thirst.

(Sim Name) will need to replenish his/her Thirst more often. He/She best have a large pool of prey...

Tier 1: Day Phobia
Tier 2: Intense Day Phobia
Tier 3: Nightbound

(Sim Name) is weaker during the day, and his/her powers fail far more often.

Tier 1
Even when he/she is not in direct Sunlight, he/she still knows the Sun is there... just waiting for him/her to step outside during the day. (Sim Name)'s Powers are less effective during the day, and harder to use due to gnawing anxiety.
Tier 2
The daytime fills him/her with dread. The hateful firey orb of the Sun is like a malevolent eye, watching his/her every move! (Sim Name) can barely concentrate on using his/her Powers, and his/her vampire energy seems to leak away all the time.
Tier 3
(Sim Name)'s only himself/herself during sweet, blessed night. It's the only time he/she is safe from the HATED DAYSTAR and it's baleful, vampire energy draining influence.

Rank 5 (Grand Master Vampire)
Eternal Sadness

(Sim Name) will occasionally get really, really sad. Conflicts with Dampened Emotions.

The strains of life without end depress (Sim Name) from time to time. Sadness will emerge when it is least expected.

Undead Aura

Relationships with other Sims start off negative. Conflicts with Vampiric Charm.

(Sim Name) has drifted so far from humanity that he/she no longer relates to the living. Non-vampires are less comfortable around him/her and it will take longer to build friendships.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Almost all vampiric abilities can be unlocked for a single Sim (except those that conflict with others), as the Sim will continue gaining Power Points even after they have reached the maximum Vampire Rank.[1]
  • Vampire Powers and Weaknesses can be reconfigured by having the vampire Sim drink a Draught of Reconfiguration (which can be made at Level 14 vampire lore skill), which will reset and refund all of their Power Points and chosen weaknesses.
  • Through the use of cheats, vampires with all powers and no weaknesses can be created.
