A wish is a request from a Sim in The Sims 3. There is a wide selection that keep Sims happy as well as working towards some short and long-term goals and rewards; similar to the wants system in The Sims 2. Wishes come from anywhere and everywhere, based on a Sims’ traits, their job, their skills, their friends or coworkers, where they are in town, or what they might be doing or wants to do. Wishes that are related to Sim's lifetime want will have a flare behind their icon. Available wishes appear on the top middle slot, which can be cycled through by the little arrows on it's side If there are multiple wishes. Players can promise to help their Sims with a wish by left-clicking on it, or choose or throw it away by right-clicking on it. There can only be up to four promised wishes at a time.

Satisfying these basic tasks will give lifetime happiness points that can be redeemed for a lifetime reward and increase a Sim's overall morale with the "Fulfilled" moodlet; a minor condition that contributes to a characters' overall mood.

Wishes are removed when the player changes the active household.
