A xylophone is a toddler skill object in The Sims 2, The Sims Castaway Stories, and The Sims 3. In The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, it is made by Rip Co., a toy manufacturing company. In The Sims 2 and The Sims Castaway Stories, it teaches toddlers the creativity skill, while in The Sims 3, it teaches toddlers the guitar skill. If The Sims 3: Late Night is installed, it will teach drums, piano and bass skills. If The Sims 3: Into the Future is installed, it will also teach laser rhythm-a-con skill.

In The Sims 3, it will not raise a toddler's guitar, drums, piano, bass and laser rhythm-a-con skills any higher than three points, and those points will not be visible until the Sim starts playing the instrument as an older life stage.

If The Sims 2: Freetime is installed, playing with the Rip Co Xylophone will raise Enthusiasm for the Music and Dance hobby.
