Agnes Crumplebottom is a pre-created, non-playable sim in The Sims that premiered in the Hot Date expansion pack as NPC Mrs. Crumplebottom; a crochetedy, old woman who would fuss at and purse-slap any sim couple she saw displaying affection in public. She reappears in The Sims 2, as one of the pre-created, yet unplayable sims featured as ancestors of playable, pre-created sims; as Mrs. Crumplebottom, however, she continues to wreck havoc on lovebirds in public places.

She resided, during her lifetime, in Pleasantview, one of the neighborhoods that ships with the games but, as Mrs. Crumplebottom appears in all neighborhood community lots, pre-made or custom. She is the daughter of Simon Crumplebottom and Prudence Crumplebottom, both of Pleasantview; she has one sibling, Cornelia Goth and the infamous Mortimer Goth is her nephew.

The Mrs. Crumplebottom Theory

There are many theories and explanations of Agnes and Mrs. Crumplebottom being one in the same, and how this is possible. There are a few discrepancies (Mrs. Crumplebottom was listed as being a widow in The Sims and Agnes shows unmarried in The Sims 2), but most believe they are one in the same. There is some, however, that argue that Mrs. Crumplebottom is, instead, Prudence Crumplebottom, Agnes and Mortimer's mother.

See Mrs. Crumplebottom for a write-up on the theories and the Mrs. Crumplebottom mystery.
