Boarding School is a feature added in The Sims 3: Generations, which makes available options to send kids and teens to Boarding School. There are 5 types of Boarding Schools available to attend.

Children in boarding schools may call home to catch up with their parents and family. Also, if the parents miss the child too much, they may bring them home.

Boarding Schools offer a unique education experience for Child and Teen Sims if their parents are willing to pay for the tuition cost of-course. There are five types of Boarding Schools available, each trains students in different skills and traits.[1]

Trivia

Adult Sims created in CAS can randomly have graduated from one of the boarding schools, checking the employment history in the career tab tells you which school they graduated from. They won't have skills from the school but they will be able to do special interactions they would have gained there such as throwing up a peace sign if they had graduated from the School of Peace and Love.
