Difference between Sims with very dark eyes and Sims who's eyes are completely black

I think that Sims with very dark but otherwise completely normal eyes shouldn't be in the same category as Sims with Alien eyes that are completely black. It's very confusing and their eyes aren't #000000 anyway but a very dark shade of brown like Roderick Synapse for example. They should be in the Brown-eyed Sims Category. I think it depends on how distinguishable it is.

In Roderick's case, his eyes are unmistakably brown (I have changed his infobox to say "Dark Brown" instead of "Black". It's the same with Mortimer Goth and Kaylynn Langerak; their eyes are very dark, but are still distinguishably brown and should be listed as such.

In the case of Sims like Gunther Goth, Iliana and Parker Langerak, and Zelda Mae, they have very dark green-hued eyes that do not have a colour hex of #000000, but are indistinguishable as green. In that case, it should be listed as "Black". Mariaw (talk) 00:58, January 28, 2019 (UTC)

But wouldn't it be more interesting to know that these Sims' eyes are a very dark shade of green rather than lumping them all in with the fully black eyes? I took a closer look at the Langeraks and you are right it's indistinguishable but it's still interesting information in my opinion, especially since these Sims have to be edited in CAS in order to find out their true eye colours. —Gvaudoin 💬 02:03, January 29, 2019 (UTC)

Now that you mention it, I do think it should be mentioned on their pages that their eyes are actually green-hued, but I still think their infoboxes should just say "Black". Mariaw (talk) 02:10, January 29, 2019 (UTC)

I hadn't even realized the alien Sims were being placed into the same category as regular Sims. That should be corrected since there's a clear difference between those eye colors. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 04:29, January 29, 2019 (UTC)

@Gvaudoin Re-reading the beginning of your paragraph, I can't help but think you believe Black is an Alien-exclusive eye colour. I apologise if you don't believe that, but given the way you worded it, it seems so. Black is an actual human eye colour, even in real life. Mariaw (talk) 06:07, February 20, 2019 (UTC)

Obviously, English isn't my first language but I'll try to word it differently and hopefully it'll be a bit clearer: This category isn't very helpful because it includes both Sims with normal eyes where the iris is very dark but usually not completely black and Sims who have eyes where the entire eye is black. Okay. Sorry about the misconception.

I think what we should do to correct this is to add a category specifically for Alien eyes, because as Auror said, there is an obvious difference between alien black eyes and human black eyes.

As for differentiating Sims with very dark eyes and Sims whose eyes are entirely black, in The Sims 3, there is little to no difference, depending on just how dark it is. Eyes in the game are textured in a way that makes eyes appear darker than the actual colour; Zelda Mae, for example, has eyes with a colour value of 12,15,7. When this colour value is inserted into an art program, it can clearly be seen as green, but when inserted as an eye colour in The Sims 3, it looks completely black no matter how closely you zoom in on it. "obvious difference between alien black eyes and human black eyes." Yes, this is what I'm trying to express. An Alien eyes category would be a possible solution to that problem.

But I also think that it's interesting information that some of the Sims that appear to have black eyes like Zelda Mae actually have really dark green eyes. It doesn't necessarily need to be reflected in the categories or on the sidebar but it's still something that should be mentioned on the page in some way. —Gvaudoin 💬 18:30, February 20, 2019 (UTC)

I added an image reference to all black-eyed Sims in Sunset Valley that their true eye colour values are a very dark shade of green, despite appearing completely black in-game. I don't think I missed any, but it I did, let me know. Mariaw (talk) 19:52, February 20, 2019 (UTC)
