- Not to be confused with Fame.
Celebrity Status is a feature in The Sims 3: Late Night. It is reminiscent of Fame in The Sims: Superstar.
A Sim's celebrity status is displayed by 1 to 5 stars. Sims must perform certain tasks and brag about themselves in order to gain a higher celebrity status.[1] The neighborhood already has celebrities and one way to launch sims way into stardom is to befriend other celebrities. Celebrity NPC's are distinguished by having a gold star over their heads.[1]
Sims don't need to be in the Film career to become famous. Any Sim can become a celebrity.[2]
If a paparazzi catches a Sim fighting another,[2] skinny dipping in a pool or dancing on the bar they may be fired from their job or get the "Walk of Shame" moodlet.[3] Sims can, however, drag the paparazzi to court. Celebrities can also try to attempt to escape from paparazzi.[2] In addition, doing a variety of tasks (including peeing themselves, passing out, and detonating/smashing objects) in public or private will cause the "Publicly Disgraced" moodlet and the inability to receive bonuses for 3 days. In addition, if a sim is recognized as a celebrity within that time, the moodlet will be negative.
When Sims get really famous they may receive free stuff from fans and businesses, such as free groceries,[2] free drinks,[1] free books at the bookstore,[3] free treatments at the spa[3] and access to exclusive bars and clubs where other celebrities hang out.[1] Sims may also receive simoleons for showing up at parties and having their picture taken.[4]
If a consignment store register recognizes a Sim as a celebrity they may get a discount and The Recognized as a Celebrity moodlet.
Celebrity stars do not decay or can not be lost. If a Sim gains a star, they will be a celebrity forever, even after death.

- Kissing other celebrities (1 kiss = 1 star).

- Becoming the boyfriend/girlfriend = 1 star.

If a celebrity sim has a child, the child may inherit the celebrity status when he or she grows up. Sims at the top of their career will gain celebrity status faster.[2]
