The Sims 2: Bon Voyage and The Sims 3: World Adventures are both based on the concept of traveling, but there are several differences.

Tai chi (replaced by Martial Arts)
Multiple hotels of various cost and standard; World Adventures merely contains one no-cost base camp.
Bellhop and housekeeper NPCs for hotel room services

Vacation benefits (replaced by a positive moodlet when arriving home)

Saunas (Returns as premium content for Sunlit Tides.)
Massage tables (Also returned as premium content from Sunlit Tides.)
The ability to swim on beaches (Returned in Seasons / Patch 42 )
Campfire (There is a fire pit introduced in the base game, and has a similar use.)
