The Sims 2: Bon Voyage and The Sims 3: World Adventures are both based on the concept of traveling, but there are several differences.

- Three foreign resorts
- Unique clothing and greetings for each resort
- Food and souvenir stores
- Photography
- Digging: Anywhere in Bon Voyage, at Dig Site only in World Adventures
Features in Bon Voyage not in World Adventures
- Bigfoot
- Vacation memento
- Tai chi (replaced by Martial Arts)
- Multiple hotels of various cost and standard; World Adventures merely contains one no-cost base camp.(replaced by resorts in The Sims 3: Island Paradise.)
- Bellhop and housekeeper NPCs for hotel room services
- Unsavory Charlatan
- Local dance styles (Hula, Slap dance)
- Voodoo doll (returns as premium content in The Sims 3 Store)
- Fire dance and fire dancer NPC
- Log rolling
- Vacation benefits (replaced by a positive moodlet when arriving home)
- Jet lag
- Saunas (Returns as premium content for Sunlit Tides.)
- Massage tables (Also returned as premium content from Sunlit Tides.)
- The ability to swim on beaches (Returned in Seasons / Patch 42 )
- Campfire (There is a fire pit introduced in the base game, and has a similar use.)
