Create a World

Create-a-World Tool

The Create A World tool gives the player the ability to create and share unique new worlds for The Sims 3. It allows players to create custom neighborhoods, just like in The Sims 2, except it is more in-depth. It was released on December 16, 2009 and is available to download for free from TheSims3.com if you have an account there. It is similar to the creation/terraforming tools in SimCity 4 and the tools used by the game developers when creating neighborhoods for the game. This means that some of the features in the Create a World tool may not be simple to use and may not be very user-friendly. You can download or upload worlds on The Exchange.

The Create a World tool is in beta mode, so it may still contain some bugs or glitches that have yet to be repaired. A fully patched version of The Sims 3 is needed in order to use it.

Features

  • Design entire worlds for your Sims, from choosing terrain patterns and roads to placing lots, vegetation and neighborhood accents like water towers and lighthouses.
  • Start with a blank canvas, or modify the terrains that formed the basis of Sunset Valley or Riverview.
  • For advanced designers, bring your creativity to life by creating and importing designs from Photoshop and other graphics programs.
  • Expand your landscape features and building options with The Sims 3 Create a World Tool – BETA with The Sims 3: World Adventures expansion pack, or items from The Sims 3 Store.
  • Share your worlds through The Sims 3 Exchange.

Expanded features

  • Terraforming
  • Place roads and sidewalks (or footpaths)
  • Spray on custom terrain paints like lava, snow or pink cotton candy
  • Place community lots, career "rabbit holes" and liveable housing lots
  • Import height maps

Bugs

Main article: Glitches
  • Due to a recent patch, an error(files are corrupt) appears whenever C.A.W. is run. The only known fix is to reinstall the Sims 3, reinstall C.A.W., and do not instal the patch for The Sims 3. [citation needed]
