Fenrir Olafsson, also known as "Fenrir Dortheimer", is a member of the 13th generation of the huge Dortheimer family.

Youth[edit | edit source]

Fenrir was born in the northern and chilly town of Aurora Skies. He is the second son of the local businessman Olaf Leifsson and, unfortunately, the latter's wife Traudel Dortheimer, a member of the insanely wealthy and extended Dortheimer family. His sister Solweig is ten years older than him. He was an unusually quiet and shy little boy, and he was quite the loner at school, though he was not unpopular or anything, as he still got along with his schoolmates. He shared a strong bond with his sister even if she was rather stern and grumpy all the time.

He also was really close to his father, who always was nice and caring about him. This sadly did not apply to his mother Traudel and the latter's twin Cléa Dortheimer, who were a cold, mean and troublemaking women. He therefore tried to avoid them at all costs.

He was not that appreciated either by the other members of his extremely large family, who he regularly visited with his parents and sister. He was deemed by most of them as far too emotional and shy in order to become like them: powerful, immensely rich and sometimes rather dishonest.

He grew up into a teenager and became a rather attractive young lad. Every girl at school dreamed of becoming his girlfriend. However, much to his mother's and aunt's surprise, he remained definitely single, and the evil women became curious and suspicious about his private life.

Fenrir was a great student at school. He was ready to do anything in order to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a surgeon.

However, as time passed, he became more and more silent and shy, and his schoolmates became worried about his well-being.

In fact, Fenrir had a secret he wanted to keep all for himself: he was attracted to men. Not that Aurora Skies dwellers were not open to this, he only feared TWO people: Cléa and Traudel.

After some years, he could not hold this secret anymore and he came out to his father at 17 years old. The latter was not bothered the slightest and he was really relieved that his beloved son finally got enough strength to tell him and let out the secret that hautend him for years. However, Fenrir had him swear that he would not tell anyone so Cléa and Traudel would not know.

Still, Olaf was a rather clumsy man and he accidently revealed their son's homosexuality to his wife. And there began Fenrir's nightmare, as her reaction was even worse than he imagined, as Traudel made her best to make his new "out" life a living hell with the help of her sister and his day at home was filled with mockeries and denigration or even downright cruel insults, and Fenrir could not do anything to stop his wife as she was too powerful and domineering and he could only comfort his son while the two were alone. He really wanted to get away from her, but her family had an unproved but substantial history of mysterious spouse disappearances and he did not want to verify whever the legend was true or not. As for Solweig, Traudel was careful enough to never let her know about her brother's poor treatment, though Solweig saw that Fenrir was not feeling right.

Sadly, Olaf fell ill (supposedly out of guilt for slipping about his son's private life) and died from a terrible cancer. And Fenrir then was left alone to bear the horrendous treatment inflicted to him by his mother and aunt.

Some people knew, as they heard the quarrels when walking in front of the house, but they were too terrified to tell a thing because of Traudel and Cléa's rumored mafia system.

Adulthood[edit | edit source]

Not long after he grew up into a young adult, the family received a letter from their Riverblossom Hills relative Berthe who announced them the death of her sister Marthe, who had been murdered by her lover's wife, and invited them to her funeral. The Dortheimer family might be really old and extended, every other members were close to each other and as such, Traudel, Cléa, Solweig, the latter's new husband Siegmar and of course Fenrir just had to attend to it. And they arrived in a huge and luxurious hotel that Berthe and her mother Phyllis rent to welcome every single living Dortheimer.

Every other member from the family was there. Fenrir felt awkward as he already was intimidated by nearly all of them when taken individually, and now that all the rich and influential Dortheimer were there it was made a lot worse.

Everything went as fine as it could, until Traudel started a violent argument with Fenrir during which she willfully outed him in a brutal manner to the entire living Dortheimer legacy. Horrified and terrified by their potential reactions, Fenrir ran away, crying, to his room. Solweig, who finally learnt what had saddened her dear brother for all those years, ran after him, but she failed to catch him before he locked himself in his room.

In the reception room, the reactions to this outing were hostile, but unlike Fenrir thought, those were mostly hostile to Traudel and her cruelty toward her own son, as they said the "Gay or not he still is a full part member of our proud legacy and as such he shall be as respected as any of us". One of the relatives, Brigitte, was so outraged at her distant cousins' hatred that she jumped on Traudel and had a massive brawl with her. Brigitte did not accept that someone from her own family acted as such a homophobic jerk, as she fought for her gay brother's happiness and well-being during all his too-short life, something that was not easy everyday because of people like Traudel. Two other attendees had to separate the two before they got hurt and then they all began to expose their point of view on the matter.

Many, many were really shocked at Traudel's and Cléa's attitude toward Fenrir, yet some were more hesitant because of their good relationships with the two. During this heated argument, some family members including Brigitte wanted to kick the two out of their family circle and reunions and denounce their fraudulent activities in the Aurora Skies mafia to the authorities (something no one ever done before because of family solidarity) but some, including the most influential of them all, the bank mogul Valérie, were opposed to this as this may tarnish the family's worldwide reputation and for some of them, it also might draw the attention of the authorities toward their own dubious activities.

However, during all those punishment considerations, Fenrir was still locked in his room and Solweig did not know how open it. She ran back downstairs and called for her mother's cousin and elderly stronglady Anneliese in order to have her break the door. Everyone followed Anneliese and the latter broke the wooden door as if it was crafted in fragile crystal. No one had time to observe the interior of the room as their attention was immediately caught by Anneliese who ran as fast as she could toward the window. She reach it at the exact moment Fenrir tried to jump out of it, from the hotel's fifth stair, and she grabbed him just in the nick of time, and she finally pulled him up to safety.

Seeing what Traudel's and Cléa's actions' consequences on the unfortunate Fenrir, everyone agreed that the two shall be severely punished. They were forced to apologize to Fenrir and they all decided to denounce them to the authorities for some of their crimes in Aurora Skies. They were also banned from being financially helped by the Dortheimer family should they need money some days, though they abandoned the idea of cutting bridges with them as family solidarity was too much important in this family.

Fenrir was immensely affected in a good was by his family's attitude and they all celebrated the end of Fenrir's nightmare and the start of his new life as a happy, healthy gay young man.

Fenrir did not want to go back to Aurora Skies as he still was in frosty terms with Traudel and Cléa and some relatives from Riverview, Pannonique and Pulchérie offered to welcome him in their big house.

Upon arriving to Riverview, he was warmly welcomed by the populace. He decided to study medicine in this town so he could become a surgeon himself and met here a really nice guy whose name was Nicolas. They soon became friends then lovers. Meanwhile, he also graduated and finally got his doctorate. He was invited into a nice restaurant by Nicolas and Pulchérie for the occasion and Nicolas surprised him with an engagement ring. Driven to tears by emotion, he accepted the proposal.

Pulcherie organized the most exquisite wedding party ever and everyone was invited. Even Cléa and Traudel were invited and they even reconciled with Fenrir, as they changed entirely their point of view on his sexuality. This truly was the best day in Fenrir's life.
