In continuation from this thread on main page talk, I would like this issue to be resolved before I progress any further with editing the new design. I feel that it would be a waste of time to implement more ideas unless the community does come to a consensus on whether we should change the design to the proposed one in the first place. If you require a link to what I'm talking about, here it is.

Moving the forums to the right bar throws the balance off again. To counteract that, I'd recommend moving the new releases section to beside the The Sims News section. However, on the whole I support this design. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 06:13, October 13, 2014 (UTC)

Using HideRail script. Looking at the new main page, it doesn't look too bad until you get to the forums. The circle idea is nice, but the blue links overlapping and sticking out of their boxes looks a bit off. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 12:50, October 13, 2014 (UTC)

What should it look like then? ―The Tim Man (Infinite HistoriesGalactic CruciblesThe Sims WikiHallows MaleficentWhy I'm here in the first place) 13:29, October 13, 2014 (UTC)
I think the "circle" idea is excellent, the links just need some work. Maybe you could embed the text inside the image and make that image clickable, if you know what I mean. Not sure if this is easy to do, however; I've never tried it myself. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 14:50, October 13, 2014 (UTC)
The image is clickable; however, if I were to embed the text within the image, users would have to hover over the image to see what it's for. I don't think they would take the time to do that. Any other ideas? ―The Tim Man (Infinite HistoriesGalactic CruciblesThe Sims WikiHallows MaleficentWhy I'm here in the first place) 14:56, October 13, 2014 (UTC)
I personally think the image looks better without text. But, from a functional standpoint I think the text is important. Some readers might not understand what the images themselves represent and realize they can hover to find out, or may be on devices where text displayed while hovering will not appear. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 16:33, October 13, 2014 (UTC)
Should we launch the new main page after the switch back to standard colours is made, provided everyone agrees? ―The Tim Man (Infinite HistoriesGalactic CruciblesThe Sims WikiHallows MaleficentWhy I'm here in the first place) 04:18, October 15, 2014 (UTC)
The planned switch-back is on the 2nd of November. If there's consensus here before then, I don't see why we can't implement the design earlier. The only reason that I can see for waiting is that the colors of some of the lettering and the "Forum wheel" don't match the current theme. It's not a big deal either way. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 04:47, October 15, 2014 (UTC)

I support the implementation of the new main page upon the switchback on 2nd November. ―The Tim Man (Infinite HistoriesGalactic CruciblesThe Sims WikiHallows MaleficentWhy I'm here in the first place) 05:53, October 15, 2014 (UTC) :

Same as the above - also I love the halloween design for the wiki! :) -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 06:20, October 15, 2014 (UTC)

Current wiki policy states that only administrators can start votes. While there is a proposal to change this currently under consideration, the current policy stands in the meantime. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 06:40, October 15, 2014 (UTC)
