A while ago, we decided to disable the Related Videos module in this wiki. I've been away for 3 days and I haven't been able to catch up with recent things, but apparently, there's a replacement module for the Related Videos now. It's called "Must Watch Videos". Should we keep or get rid of the extension, once more? I'm still in favor with the arguments we had in the old discussion. It's even more annoying than the previous, since it displays even larger preview and eats up a lot of space. Nikel Talk Vote! 12:17, May 11, 2014 (UTC)

Discussion[edit source]

Apparently that thing is an A/B test being carried out by Wikia, so not everybody will see it in the same way. I don't know when the test will end, or if in fact Wikia actually rolled it out to everybody. For now I'd suggest keeping an eye out with the hope that it'll go away. For the record I am for getting rid of it but given how Wikia are with extensions that nobody wants, I'll probably have to use CSS to get rid of it, like I did with RelatedVideos as they wouldn't remove it (plus Wikia broke CSS for gadgets meaning I couldn't make it optional, idk if they fixed it yet). Bump. The replacement module seems to be gone. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 23:00, May 31, 2014 (UTC)
Are you sure? It's still there, in my browser. Nikel Talk Vote! 17:03, June 1, 2014 (UTC)
It's not in my browser either. Could it be almighty AdBlock? I would probably suggest you clear your cache for this website by pressing Shift and then the Reload page button. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 00:07, June 2, 2014 (UTC)
I can only see the module when I'm browsing in content pages; I don't think it's supposed to appear if you're in other namespaces other than the main namespace (and perhaps Fanon and Game Guides, since they're considered content pages). -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 00:16, June 2, 2014 (UTC)
Oh, pfft. Great. I guess only looking at one namespace while ignoring the main one was a pretty bad idea... --k6ka (talk | contribs) 00:19, June 2, 2014 (UTC)
Alright, it appears in the main namespace, as well as custom namespaces that we specifically requested from Wikia, namely the "Fanon" and "Game guide" namespace. All other namespaces, such as "Template", "User", "Forum", "MediaWiki", all talk pages, etc (the 'backbone' of the wiki, some would say) are ignored. Personally it doesn't really bother me, but what does bother me is how Wikia seems to perform tests when we least expect it. "Hey, we're testing this new layout. Give us feedback on it". Response: "I hated the new layout because it broke every single template on the wiki". --k6ka (talk | contribs) 14:51, June 2, 2014 (UTC)

Well, I ignore the videos very much, but it's still annoying. I mean, I'm not even sure if anyone cares that module, and these videos don't have any relations at all with any pages we're currently at. Nikel Talk Vote! 14:01, June 3, 2014 (UTC)

Conclusion[edit source]

I killed it off with CSS as nobody wanted it and now we don't have to see it. Can't wait for the impending follow up thread for their next unwanted extension! Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 01:13, June 19, 2014 (UTC)
