We're only a couple months out from the release of The Sims 4, so I think it's time for us to start planning for its release. We already have a thread discussing style changes to the wiki, but I think this thread should discuss other steps we can take to ready the wiki for the release of the game. On top of this, it would also be great if we could come up with some ideas to drive community activity and make the wiki as welcoming to new users as we can.

One thing I would like to do is get some staff involvement in planning and handling events. This by no means would eliminate our role in this process, but there are members of staff who have coordinated successful events on other wikis to coincide with game releases or major events. Having staff work with us on these events would allow us to make a bigger splash and get our name out there around Wikia and the greater Sims community. Not only that, but their past experience and expertise will allow us to put on more successful events which will help us draw in as many new contributors as we can, so we can continue to build our community.

Ultimately, even if we don't seek staff help, we should still work hard to create events that are fun and help to draw in new users. The Sims 4 is giving us an opportunity to increase the size of our community, and we would be foolish to pass it up. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 07:27, June 22, 2014 (UTC)

Discussion[edit source]

We could probably create new contests and/or games, if needed we can host them IRL. Although I'm not sure who wants to open up their wallet to fund such events, and even then we have to hope people show up and that it's more than a backyard pool party.

In this case, I think asking Wikia Staff for assistance is a feasible option. One other idea I have in my mind is, if it doesn't already exist, is to have a bright and colourful "Introduction" page. It could, perhaps, be at The Sims Wiki:Introduction, and it would basically introduce people to The Sims series and the wiki, as well as the basics of the game and editing wiki pages. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 19:33, June 22, 2014 (UTC)

We have The Sims Wiki:About, though it could probably use a new coat of paint. - LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 20:51, June 22, 2014 (UTC)
The Sims Wiki:History has been created. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 16:38, July 4, 2014 (UTC)
I'm not sure if the History resolves the discussion, but I'm interested in it. Say, what's the scope of this History page? I'm sure there are more that need to be added! Nikel Talk Vote! 17:03, July 11, 2014 (UTC)
Pretty much anything that's happened on the wiki can be added to the history page. I just went with basic information. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 14:32, July 12, 2014 (UTC)
