Discussion[edit source]

Greetings!

Since the actual The Sims Medieval wiki is abandoned, I propose to merge it with this great The Sims wiki so that this good title -even if it is a standalone game- may benefit from an active community.

Thank you in advance for your attention

Discussion[edit source]

Oppose — Their pages are bad quality. we have better ones. if we merged then we would either overwrite their pages or just be adding junk to ours. i say dont merge. 72.193.176.153 (talk) 21:57, June 8, 2016 (UTC)

Support — I support the merge. If any of the Medieval pages are in bad shape, we can always shape them up, should the Medieval wiki be merged with this one. I think it is rather a good idea, since The Sims Medieval is part of the Sims franchise, so it makes better sense if our Sim pages and the Medieval ones are living under the same roof. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 22:19, June 8, 2016 (UTC)

Support — I copied most of the pages I made for The Sims Medieval stuff from the wiki. I did write it so it would fit with the TSW style. I did this because The Sims Medieval wiki is dead and I thought I would copy the pages to TSW because then it would get seen. So I support a merge so the pages could get recognition. ― Sims Player (talk) (mistakes) 11:03, June 9, 2016 (UTC)

Support — I think the wiki could always use new information and a helping hand. I see no reason why we shouldn't merge them, especially since we have some incomplete pages on the topic. - KaruKaterchen (talk/ fanon) 08:32, June 13, 2016 (UTC)

Support Sims medieval is a crucial part of the Sims and we should provide information for both, and it will make it easier for the fandom to see information on both Darytyg123123 (talk) 12:00, July 16, 2016 (UTC)

I'm not opposed to a merger, however it's not as simple as just proposing it here. Merging two wikis requires staff approval, which is not likely to be granted. Staff generally say then an empty and abandoned Wiki does no harm, and could potentially become an active community again if adopted. We already have most of the content that was included there, so the only thing to be gained in a merger would be a redirect to this Wiki. While I would support such a request, I doubt it will happen. -LiR talkblogcontribs 14:08, July 16, 2016 (UTC)

Actually, it depends on the content. If the Wiki covers similar topics as a more over branching one, then Wikia do tend to allow mergers. I come from Call of Duty Wiki where we've had hundreds of splinter wikis crop up. Normally most of these just come from disgruntled users that got warned/blocked for violating a policy and try to set up their own CoD wiki. These wikis as I'm sure you can guess die out after about a week, after which time we've sent in requests to Wiki to be merged and they've accepted. Given this is a similar circumstance in that it's a wiki about a Sims game moving in to the main Sims wiki there's a fair chance that Wikia might accept it. Crazy sam10 14:32, July 16, 2016 (UTC)
They may approve mergers proposed by their favorite editors or their favorite wikis, but the rest of us don't get such special treatment. -- LiR talkblogcontribs 00:26, July 19, 2016 (UTC)

I've taken a look at the wiki and it appears that there are still some editors on it, a few within the last 90 days. As far as I know, no discussion thread was started there to alert the community of this proposal. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 15:54, July 16, 2016 (UTC)

That's strange. I didn't think we had much pages about The Sims Medieval on this wiki. I was probably judging by the lack of Medieval Sim pages we had on this wiki. But I guess this can be reconciled, assuming that The Sims Medieval doesn't come with many, or any pre-made Sims of it's own. I think we should alert The Sims Medieval Wiki Community of this proposal, if they still haven't been alerted of the proposal already. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 01:39, July 17, 2016 (UTC)
I don't know if the wiki's actually should merge. We have a few Medieval pages copied from The Sims Medieval Wiki, and we could still do that instead of merging Sims Player (talk) (mistakes) 07:31, July 17, 2016 (UTC)
Even if the two wikis are not merged, I do think that the Sims wiki would benefit greatly from having additional pages and information regarding the Sims Medieval that the Sims wiki may not have already. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 07:37, July 17, 2016 (UTC)
