There are many times when I come to question the universe of The Sims series. The games in the main series (The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 3) are obviously in the same universe. It's the spinoffs and console versions that I'm worried about. The Sims Stories series is in the same universe as the main series, since it mentions neighborhoods from The Sims 2. The Sims Online is also probably in the same universe as the main series as well, since some of its neighborhoods are mentioned in The Sims 3. The Sims on console and The Sims Bustin' Out on console are most likely in the same universe, but I'm not sure if they're in the same universe as the main series. The Sims Bustin' Out on handheld, The Urbz: Sims in the City on handheld, The Sims 2 on GBA, and The Sims 2 on NDS are all probably in the same universe as well, since they share many of the same characters and are developed by the same company. The Sims 2 on PSP is most likely in the same universe as the main series, since it features Strangetown after the events of The Sims 2. I'm not sure if The Sims 2 Castaway (Nintendo DS) is in the same universe as any of the other games, but there's no reason why it can't be. All of the other games that I haven't mentioned (The Urbz: Sims in the City on console, The Sims 2 on console, The Sims 2 Pets on console and handheld, The Sims 2 Castaway on console, and The Sims 2 Apartment Pets.) are the ones that I have no idea which universe they could be in. The only ones of those games that I haven't played are The Sims 2 Pets, The Sims 2 Castaway console, and The Sims 2 Apartment Pets. If anyone has played those games, please help explain which universe you think they could be in. Okay. After a lot of reading, I now know that Mambo Loa and Lincoln Broadsheet are in The Sims 2 for PSP. Since both of those Sims were in The Urbz: Sims in the City for handheld, this means that all of the Games in the "handheld series" (The Sims Bustin' Out for handheld, The Urbz: Sims in the City for handheld, The Sims 2 GBA, and The Sims 2 NDS) are in the same universe as the The Sims 2 PSP and, in extension, the "main series" as well.
So now this is the current Sims Universes:
Main series universe: The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 3, The Sims Stories, The Sims Online, The Sims Bustin' Out on handheld, The Urbz on handheld, The Sims 2 on GBA, The Sims 2 on NDS, The Sims 2 on PSP.

- RESPONSE: The way I have it, there are only two universes: The Canon Universe and the Non-Canon Universe.
The CANON UNIVERSE (CU) includes ALL the PC games. Even though Sims 3 sorta messes with canon, I've managed to explain all the plot-holes more or less. The CU also includes games that don't mess up canon, such as Bustin' Out for GBA, and the Urbz series (as far as I know.) I remember the Goths being in Bustin' Out for console, so maybe those take place when Cassandra is in college and before Alexander was born. The handheld versions (PSP, GBA DS) of Sims 2 are NOT in this universe because all the information from them contradicts each other AND information from the PC versions themselves.
The NON-CANON UNIVERSE (NCU), however, includes games that would blow the CU's canon to smithereens - like ANY Sims 3 game that's not for the PC (Sims 3 DS/xBox/PS3/Wii) because they include random "relatives" of canon families (The Goths and Altos for example.) Also here: handheld and console versions of Sims 2.
RECAP: CANON UNIVERSE - The PC versions of Sims 1/Sims 2/Sims 3, the "Stories" PC franchise (more or less), Urbz series, Bustin' Out (for console and handheld). The Castaway franchise. The Sims 1 for console. The Sims Online.
NON-CANON UNIVERSE: Sims 3 for console/handheld and Sims 2/Sims 2 Pets for console/handheld. Also The Sims Social because of Bella Goth's random appearance. The Sims 3 for iPod & iPhone.

The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 3, The Sims Life Stories, The Sims Pet Stories, The Sims Castaway Stories, The Sims Medieval, The Sims Social, The Sims (console), The Sims Bustin' Out (console), The Sims Bustin' Out (handheld), The Urbz: Sims in the City (console), The Urbz: Sims in the City (handheld), The Sims 2 (console), The Sims 2 (GBA), The Sims 2 (Nintendo DS), The Sims 2 (PSP), The Sims 3 (console), The Sims 3 (Nintendo DS), The Sims 3 (Wii) are all in the same universe and are all canon.
