A heart-shaped bed is a special bed with a heart-shaped headboard which Sims use for romantic purposes. The heart-shaped bed has reappeared in many different games throughout the series. Heart-shaped beds have the same functions as normal beds, but they have some additional options. Also, heart-shaped beds replenish Sim's energy need more or as much as expensive beds in general.

Vibromatic Heart Bed
"Our vibrating heart bed was so popular with honeymoon motels, we decided to sell them to the public," says creator Sadie S. Factor. "The vibration engine is Swedish of course, but we have done a lot of testing with a pair of 300 pound dummies to strengthen the springs, reinforce the stitching and ensure smooth motion to the ocean. Bed comes complete with purple silk sheets and pillow ensemble.

The Vibromatic Heart Bed, introduced in The Sims: Livin' Large, gives Sims the opportunity to "play" in bed.

To play, send a Sim to turn the bed to "Vibrate" and have that Sim lie in the bed. Then, send a loved one to play in the bed. Then they "play", with their Fun and Social meters rising. If the Sims are of opposite genders, the "Should we have a baby?" question may appear. However, it is possible that a baby will appear spontaneously after Sims "play" in this bed, or in custom beds cloned from it. While that isn't supposed to happen, it has been known to happen. Same-sex couples can "play in bed", though that will not produce a baby.

Using the "Vibrate" interaction on the Vibromatic Heart Bed costs §20, though many custom beds based on it were modified so that they did not charge.

If The Sims: Vacation is installed, the Vibromatic Heart Bed can be placed on Vacation Island lots.

Notes

  • There's one cheat commonly used when Sims were performing this action in bed. If the player engaged the "Move_objects on" cheat and moved the bed to a separate part of the lot, the player could then see the Sims nude and hugging while suspended in mid-air. When the Sims had completed their routine, if their energy was high enough they would climb out of the bed wherever it was placed on the lot.

The More Romantic than You Double Bed was introduced in The Sims 2: Apartment Life. The bed has a heart-shaped wooden head and foot. Unlike the rest of the single and double beds in the game, this bed comes with only three choices of sheets. The three sheet choices are red, pink, or navy blue. This item is also in The Sims for Xbox.

There is a rumor that the bed increases conception chances, but this is unknown. The bed is also said to improve a Sim's relationship with a lover when performing romantic interactions.

The bed's name may be a nod to the popular Sims-related website, More Awesome Than You.

The Vibromatic Heart Bed is reintroduced in The Sims 3: High-End Loft Stuff. It gives +30 "Comfy" and +30 "Well Rested" moodlets. Also, the bed replenishes the energy need 1.35 times faster than normal beds. When Sims try for baby on the bed, there's a 100% chance Sims will conceive a baby.

Sims can also vibrate the bed while relaxing on it for §1. Vibrating on the bed increases fun need. There's a 30% chance Sims will get nauseous after vibrating the bed. Additionally, there's a 60% chance Sims will get "Amused" moodlet if they have Childish or Insane trait, or "Excited" moodlet if they have Party Animal or Flirty trait, or "Blizzard" moodlet.
