Mario DaCosta is a pre-made repairwoman who is working in Barnacle Bay. She has 2 skill points in Fishing and 5 in Guitar. It is notable that Mario is a Portuguese/Spanish name used for males. Her counterpart is Gwennie Peach. The two of them are genetically very similar, but unrelated.

She probably was intended to be a male Sim, as her bio refers to her as a "he", she has a traditionally male name and worlds in The Sims 3 often have one male and one female of each NPC instead of two females. The fact that she is female may have been an oversight or a last-minute change to her character without fixing her bio.

Her name combined with Gwennie's last name indicate that they are meant to be a reference to Mario and Princess Peach from the Super Mario Bros. franchise, including the fact that Mario in that series is a plumber, and Peach, being a princess, wears expensive clothing as Gwennie is stated to do.
