Skating rinks are recreational objects in The Sims 2: Seasons, The Sims 3: Seasons and The Sims 4: Seasons. Sims have the option of using either roller rinks or ice rinks, but they are functionally the same.
The Sims 2: Seasons[edit | edit source]
Using skating rinks builds a Sim's body skill. Roller rinks and ice rinks are available, and each one comes in two sizes. Sims may roll wants to roller skate or ice skate, even if the neighborhood does not have a rink of that type.
While skating rinks can be placed on residential lots, in practice, the size and cost of skating rinks tends to make skating a community lot activity. Seasons adds a pre-made roller rink to the Lots and Houses bin, and The Hills Community Center in Riverblossom Hills has an outdoor ice rink.

The Sims 3: Seasons[edit | edit source]
Roller rinks can generally be found at summer festivals, and ice rinks at winter festivals. Like in The Sims 2, there are four skating rinks for purchase. Using skating rinks builds a Sim's skating secret skill, up to level 6. Sims with a higher skating skill will have more interactions available to them on the skating rink, and are less likely to fall while skating.

The Sims 4: Seasons[edit | edit source]
Skating rinks return in The Sims 4: Seasons. They spawn around worlds during certain seasons, and they can also be bought in build mode.[1] Just like previous iterations, they build the fitness skill and skating secret skill. There are eight rinks available in total.
