Separate lists[edit source]

I'm wondering, should the wants and fears be listed together (as they are now), or separated into a "wants" list and a "fears" list? It looks like things that can be both wants or fears are already listed twice, so there wouldn't be any issues that I can see with separating the wants from the fears. -- LostInRiverview talk · blog · contribs 04:02, September 15, 2018 (UTC)

I've suggested this on the Discord server but I'll put it here for the benefit of those who don't use Discord. It might be better if we divided up the page into categories, much like List of Memories does. There could be a section for career-related wants/fears; another for skill-related wants/fears; one for relationship-related wants/fears; etc. That, I think, is more useful than organizing by game or by want/fear. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 11:34, September 15, 2018 (UTC)
Arranging by type also makes sense to me -- LostInRiverview talk · blog · contribs 17:24, September 15, 2018 (UTC)
So is it settle? While the list isn't full, we pretty much know the gist of what wants (magority and daily ones) roll into the sim, which we can pretty much start categorization procress. I think this should be priority rather than completing list, for the sake of readability and convenience for the readers.DrakonoSkerdikas (talk) 18:18, December 26, 2018 (UTC)
ETA: Oh and perhaps we could split Wants from Fears into their respective created tabs?DrakonoSkerdikas (talk) 18:21, December 26, 2018 (UTC)
(edit conflict)I disagree that organizing the list is a priority since readers could always use Ctrl + F to find the want/fear they're looking for, but I digress and that is irrelevant right now. Do you have suggestions on:
  • What the categories will be?
  • How the page will be organized? (by sections or by tabs?)
I would suggest the use of sections rather than tabs, since tabs are just a pain in the butt to use on mobile and they complicate editing a little bit. It would also make expanding the list a bit harder because editors can't just use Ctrl+F to see if the want/fear they're wanting to add is already listed. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 18:23, December 26, 2018 (UTC)
I see. I do agree with you about diving them. Though the type of classification (WANT and FEAR) should also be somehow divided up, because If they're not grouped they would look messy when cluttered. Perhaps split them up into their own articles? DrakonoSkerdikas (talk) 18:27, December 26, 2018 (UTC)
Memories aren't divided up by whether or not they're positive or negative which is why I don't think we really need to separate them by whether or not they're wants or fears here. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 18:29, December 26, 2018 (UTC)
As for the actual groupings, adding onto yours, these could be... recreation, family (includes toddler development), financial ones; earning/loosing/money; Fortune, then sub-groupings could go further into dividing up the tables. Just to give a headstart whoever finally decides to make changes, but are lost. Oh as for splitting the wants from fears, I still think they should somehow be split from one another.DrakonoSkerdikas (talk) 18:32, December 26, 2018 (UTC)
Okay, so if you want wants and fears to be split from each other, explain how you wish to incorporate that with the proposed method of organizing the wants/fears here. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 19:31, December 26, 2018 (UTC)
Haven't really thought of it as yet. I do think readers would still like to view them separately. Perhaps we should follow an example or fully recreate the protocol of how Memories are sorted and listed. They seem to have common ground of being identical (getting divorce, having bladder failure, learning [something]).

To further elaborate my point. Memories and Wants with Fears are identical with one another. Maybe the same suit (with the heading sections) should be replicated to start the reorganization we talked about. Whatever you type of memory you see in the page, there seems to be to them there is related want. Like topping a career starts with "Get a job in (career), becoming an occult has a want/fear of wanting/fearing to become an occult, etc.DrakonoSkerdikas (talk) 19:07, December 27, 2018 (UTC)

Organizing[edit source]

I propose to replicate Memories List sorting with the section grouping, since every memory seem to be related to and is the source of a Want/Fear. Basically, let's divide them into

  • Personal
  • Simology
  • Hazards
  • Personality
  • Relationships
  • Party
  • Romance
  • Family
  • Career and Money
  • Education and College
  • Skills, talents, abilities
  • Hobbies and Activities
  • Travelling
  • Occult
  • Death
  • Animals
  • Other groupings that additional W/F don't fit in any other

Looks okay. I'll see if I can get a draft going in my sandbox later today. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 19:51, December 27, 2018 (UTC)

Sorting[edit source]

Can we leave a Note for Wants&Fears to be sorted alphabetically when somebody considers adding more? Such sorting would be convenient for readers to find particular Want&Fear or whatever. This could maybe even be applied to section themselves. DrakonoSkerdikas (talk) 12:44, January 31, 2019 (UTC)

The table is already sortable. Click on the top of the Name column to sort that table alphabetically by name. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 15:09, January 31, 2019 (UTC)
